JavaScript Tutorial
Javascript, what the heck is it? Is it a really difficult programming language that casual web designers should be afraid of? What is it used for? JavaScript has been around for several years now, in many different flavors. The main benefit of javascript is to add additional interaction for web designers who want to get more out of their website than HTML, CSS, and PHP currently provides. By definition, JavaScript is a client-side scripting language. This means the web surfer's browser is the application that will be doing the work of the script. This is opposite to client-side is server-side, which occurs in a language like PHP. There are many uses (and abuses!) for the powerful javascript language. Here are a few things that you may or may not have seen in your web surfing days.

Introduction
I believe strongly in the value of electronic mail in both corporate and personal domains. Email is cheaper and faster than a letter, less intrusive than a phone call, less hassle than a FAX. Using email, differences in location and time zone are less of an obstacle to communication. There is also evidence that email leads to a more egalitarian information structure. Because of these advantages, email use is exploding. By 1998, of adults in the United States and Canada had come on-line.

Details You can do it...honest These web design tutorials were made for those of you who would like to learn how to make websites but after looking at the code of all those nice webpages on the net, thought "Whoa! this is too complicated". Well, despite looking complicated, html (the code which makes the web page ) is easy to learn. In fact it is easier to figure out then those web design editors which supposedly let you design webpages as you see it (called WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get). I don't think so. Unless you're familiar with at least some of the code for making web pages those editors are a real pain to use. So follow along in these lessons as I explain what I've learned so far while trying to build my web site. Hey, where ya going? I may not be a pro but I'll have you making web pages in no time so stick around.

The Gurus Network is a collaborative effort, designed and produced by one of the biggest and best collection of lunatics I've ever had the honor of knowing. Not everyone you meet here will be officially in "guru" class yet, but they will be. We are all working towards the same end, a full and proper sharing of knowledge, experience, technique and inspiration. A willingness to dream is the only requirment for membership. Our associate members are typically webmasters of their own domains; they participate here because it's a fun place to be - this is just another way of sharing what they know. You don't need to be a full member to benefit from this site, the Network is built on a philosophy of sharing. Have fun! We certainly plan to. Your pals, -the Gurus-

Are you sending love letters across the internet and worried that they might be intercepted? (They will be!) Are you worried that your family will find the really awful poetry that you've written on your PC? (The kids will!) Have you accidentally downloaded offensive material from the internet and you want to really, truly delete it? (Don't worry, you can!) If so, have no fear because PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is here. And it's free for personal use. If all you want to do is to understand what PGP can do, without downloading it and using it at this time, just read section 3 The 4 uses of PGP for absolute beginners This posting is to help absolute beginners get started with PGP and so I have kept it to less than 2,000 words in 7 sections (though section 2 refers to a couple of sources from which to download PGP and then set it up). The 7 sections are:
  • Introduction for absolute beginners
  • The best 2 web sites for absolute beginners
  • The 4 uses of PGP for absolute beginners
  • Your first pass phrase for absolute beginners ...
  • 4 things to do next for absolute beginners
    1) INTRODUCTION FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
I believe that a source of difficulty and frustration for PGP absolute beginners is that there is so much documentation available from so many sources (with most of it being long, detailed and complex) that many of them give up .... and this is a defeat for us all. A scythe needs to be taken to all of this information on their behalf.
