Since 1997, more than 39,000 riders have traveled through scenic canyons, ridden across snowcapped mountains and strolled horseback along sunny beaches through AQHA's Ride Program. As a way to encourage recreational riders and recognize those participants who attend more than one trail ride a year, AQHA introduced the Frequent Rider Card-a Passport to be presented at each ride attended. With the Passport, AQHA members can earn awards by attending numerous AQHA trail rides in one season. Click here for a list of AQHA Trail Rides and Award information.

"Providing Opportunities to Discover Abilities" The National Ability Center is committed to the development of lifetime skills for people of all ages and abilities by providing affordable outdoor sports and recreational experiences in a nurturing environment. The objective of these experiences is to build self-esteem, confidence and physical development, thereby enhancing active participation in all aspects of community life. As a national role model, the Center promoted the concept of ability through integration, public awareness and education. Founded in 1985, the National Ability Center is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Programs are supported through special events, grants from private corporations and foundations, individual donations and program fees. All activities are offered at an affordable rate and scholarships are available, ensuring participation for all applicants. The National Ability Center offers recreational activities for the family. Integration into the community through disabled sports is our focus and we accomplish that by allowing individuals of all abilities to discover their own strengths and interests. By providing access to programs for the individual as well as family and friends we ensure active participation and fun for the entire family. There is no need at the Ability Center to isolate an individual within his or her own activities. While at the Ranch, we can provide an educational and fun outlet for all ages and abilities. Participants include those with orthopedic, spinal cord, neuromuscular, visual and hearing impairments, as well as those with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

15. Saddle Up! Therapeutic Recreational Horseback Riding Program For Children
Therapeutic horseback riding program designed for physically and mentally challenged children in the greater Nashville area. Franklin, Tennessee.
http://www.saddleupnashville.org/
Saddle Up! is a therapeutic recreational horseback riding program designed for children with mental and physical disabilities. It is the oldest therapeutic riding program in the area serving a broad range of children living throughout Middle Tennessee.
Leisure opportunities for children with disabilities are limited. The Saddle Up! Therapeutic Riding Program offers children, from 4 to 18 years of age, the chance to experience horseback riding. This experience is not possible for children with disabilities without specially trained instructors, horses and equipment. Saddle Up! is operated by a small staff and a large dedicated group of volunteers. Our trained volunteers come from all walks of life and every age bracket. They serve as instructors, leaders, side-walkers, feeders, and in every other aspect of running a large organization on a 34 acre farm. The program is located just south of Nashville in Franklin, TN Mission Statement
The mission of Saddle Up! is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through recreational therapy with horses.

Equi-Partners, Inc. Therapeutic Riding Program I SAW A CHILD I saw a child who couldn't walk,
Sit on a horse, laugh and talk
Then ride it through a field of daises
And yet he could not walk unaided.
I saw a child, no legs below,
Sit on a horse and make it go
Through woods of green
And places he had never been
To sit and stare,
Except from a chair.
I saw a child who could only crawl Mount a horse and sit up tall. Put it through degrees of paces And laugh at the wonder on our faces. I saw a child born into strife, Take up and hold the reins of life, And that same child was heard to say... .... Thank God for showing me the way. John Anthony Davies
Equi-Partners, Inc. Therapeutic Riding Program is dedicated to those individuals who have mental or physical challenges by allowing them to experience both therapeutic and recreational horseback riding.

17. Saddle Up! Therapeutic Recreational Horseback Riding Program For Children
Saddle Up! is a therapeutic horseback riding program designed for physically and mentally challenged children.
http://www.saddleupnashville.org/disabilities/volunteer.htm
Saddle Up! could not operate without the dedicated help of an army of volunteers from our community. There are numerous positions that require a wide variety of talents. The areas marked with (*) will require prior experience or training that is provided for you. All Volunteers must attend an orientation before participating in any of the below listed opportunities.
Feeders*
Our horses are fed each morning and each evening by 2-3 trained volunteers. The feeders are given a calendar of the feeding schedule. This can be flexible. For example, we have feeders that feed one evening every week and others that feed the third Saturday evening of each month. The frequency is up to your schedule and may be traded with other feeders if you have an emergency. (*Requires some training, and attendance at our Horse Handling Clinic. Must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a trained volunteer over 18 years old. Prior horse experience is helpful.) Stable Hands*
Pony Pals*
Riding Teams
Consistency in the riding team is very important. When possible, Saddle Up! tries to create and maintain the same team for the session (varies between 6-10 weeks). A floating Sub will be scheduled to substitute in cases of emergencies.
