Mercury and Home Depot Partner for innovative "How-To" clinics and vehicle test drive events
    • Ford Motor Company's Mercury brand and The Home Depot have teamed up for an innovative month-long "How-To" clinic program held in 12 cities starting April 1. Consumers can test drive the new 2004 Mercury Monterey minivan and participate in "How-To" home improvement workshops at each location. Home improvement sales in the U.S. were projected to reach a record level $212 billion in 2003. According to the 2003 American Express Home Improvement Index, consumers named home improvements as their first spending priority over vacation travel, dining and entertainment.
DEARBORN, Mich., March 25, 2004 - After months of battling cold winter air, snow-filled driveways and ice-covered vehicles, springtime is a welcome relief for do-it-yourself home improvement experts. Because you need the know-how for the projects plus the right vehicle to carry all your supplies, Mercury and The Home Depot are teaming together for "How-To" home improvement workshops, test-drives and vehicle clinics featuring the new 2004 Monterey minivan. "Home improvement is the weekend hobby of millions of enthusiasts," said Allison Revier, Mercury Monterey marketing manager. "Like a hammer or a power drill, a vehicle is one of the most important tools a do-it-yourselfer can own. You need to have the appropriate amount of space to accommodate passengers and home improvement items during transport. Thanks to Monterey's flexible, roomy interior and easy fold-in-the-floor third-row seat, it is the perfect automotive tool to transport passengers and home improvement items easily and with room to spare."
