Nomination: Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Miniseries Lives of Girls and Women (11th Geminis) CAREER Credits MEDIA Pictures WHERE TO WRITE Dean McDermott c/o Oscars, Abrams, 438 Queen Street E. Toronto, Ontario Canada Tall, with sandy brown hair, blue eyes and an ingenious smile, Dean McDermott can easily assume the role of a romantic lead, such as Garnett, a farmhand whom a young woman falls in love with, despite protests from her mother, in the telefilm Lives of Girls and Women . His intriguing performance earned him a Gemini nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Yet it has been his performance in Due South as Constable Renfield the by-the-book Constable Fraser look positively at ease, that has endeared him to a growing number of television viewers. The Canadian native got his start in show business when, around age 19, he decided to stop procrastinating and went and got himself an agent. A variety of commercials and guest appearances in various TV shows and movies ensued, and soon he found his way onto one of Canada's most popular TV series, Due South Dean's first appearance on this series was in the first season episode " The Man Who Knew Too Little ," in which the path of pathological liar Ian MacDonald crosses disastrously with that of Fraser and Ray. Dean portrayed Laurier, one of the Canadian mobsters chasing Ian. Creator Paul Haggis was so impressed with Dean that when he created the character of Turnbull, a Mountie who was even "straighter-arrow than Fraser," Dean seemed the natural choice. When Haggis left the series to pursue new opportunities, he suggested to the new producers that Turnbull become a semi-regular.

After failing to win Olympic gold as a player in 1998, Wayne Gretzky is the mastermind behind Team Canada's chances this time around. Great task for Gretzky
Sept. 4, 2001
CALGARY ? Wayne Gretzky is all business. The greatest player who ever laced up a pair of skates is facing what could be the greatest challenge of his hockey career, and that's putting together the team to win Canada's first Olympic gold medal since 1952. As executive director of Team Canada, Gretzky knows the weight of a hockey-mad nation is on his shoulders. Gretzky knows better than anyone that the only color that counts in Canada is gold silver and bronze might as well be tin and he understands as well as anyone that any of the so-called six top hockey powers can mine gold in Salt Lake City in February. One of the lasting memories from the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, is of Gretzky sitting alone on the bench after the Czech Republic beat Canada in the quarter-finals in a shootout. Gretzky knew his one chance to win Olympic gold as a player was over and now he's been asked to assemble a gold-medal winning team.

Tools Since September 11, 2001, Americans and Canadians have come together as never before in our generation. We have banded together to overcome tremendous adversity. We have weathered direct attacks on our own soil, wars overseas, corporate/government scandal, layoffs, unemployment, stock price plunges, droughts, fires, mad cow, SARS, high gasoline prices, and a myriad of economic and physical disasters both great and small. But now, we must come together once again to overcome our greatest challenge yet.
Hundreds of Professional Hockey players in our very own nation are going to be locked out, living at well below the seven-figure salary level. And as if that weren't bad enough they could be deprived of their life giving pay for several months, possibly longer, as a result of the upcoming lockout situation. But you can help!
For only $20,835 a month, about $694.50 a day (that's less than the cost of a large screen projection TV) you can help an NHL player remain economically viable during his time of need. This contribution by no means solves the problem as it barely covers the annual minimum salary, but it's a start, and every little bit will help!

The Hell Yeahs sound can be described as 70's infused garage rock with subversively rabid vocals on top of smashing drums and heavy bass. Picture a "primal scream" era John Lennon playing with Wayne Kramer. With an emphasis on energy and songwriting, The Hell Yeahs scream to be heard, and more importantly... have something to say. Their songs dance with the devils in our lives...you know... all the wrong things: bad relationships, bad choices, monday hangovers, crooked politicians, pawn shops, and the unending quest for the perfect high.
In July 2004, The Hell Yeahs released their self-titled debut album on the indie label Jump The Gun Records. Adam Rohosy and Carl Hinds recorded this highly anticipated album in 2004 at Andras Music studios in Portland, OR. A video for the song "Stronger than God" is included on the cd. It was filmed by Rob Noble And Crux Films. Since that time The Hell Yeahs have been preparing to launch a national tour from the confines of their rehearsal compound.
