Service Overview
Have you grown tired of the hundreds of "hits" you receive when you enter a keyword into your favorite search engine's search field? As many savvy Internet search aficionados have learned, "more" hits are not necessarily better when you are trying to find important information. In fact, usually the more "hits" you see, the less relevant are these "hits" to your search needs.
Part of the reason for the numerous useless links found in today's search engines is the nature of the information filed away in the countless millions of Web pages that comprise the Internet. Another reason for the many times useless search engine results is the reality that not all information is accessible via Internet search engines. Serious researchers have learned that in many cases legitimate, reliable information can only be found by paying a fee to access solid sources of information.
In addition, researchers have also learned to use tools other than generic search engines, such as specialized electronic databases, or online versions of research works, including the always reliable dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, and other specialized reference sources.

The National Hockey League All Star Celebrity Challenge On Wednesday night, January 30th, I had the honor and pleasure of playing and participating in The National Hockey League All Star Celebrity Challenge at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was a charity hockey game to raise money for The Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Being an ice hockey fan for as far back as I can remember it was a dream come true to be on the same sheet of ice as legends like Phil Esposito, Dave Taylor, Rod Gilbert, Jari Kurri, Pat LaFontane, Ron Dugay and Bernie Nicholls. I started ice skating a little to late in my life to ever consider ice hockey as a career but even as an adult I've dreamed of being a professional hockey player and playing in an NHL game... This was probably as close as I will ever get and it ranks as one of the most memorable nights of my life. Topps Card: Mike V. Center Ice at The Los Angeles Convention Center. I arrived at The Staples Center at 4:00 PM that evening and was escorted to The Bad Boys' (my team for the night, captained by movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer) locker room which is also The Los Angeles Kings' locker room. My All Star jersey with my name sewn across the back was hanging there waiting for me and it was then that I met most of my teammates for the night, from Cuba Gooding Jr. to Chris Jerhico to Alex Trebek. I got dressed in my hockey apparel and then I was shuttled over to The Los Angeles Convention Center where they had put down some ice for us to skate on with some local youngsters and to meet and greet some fans. I had a lot of fun participating in the short clinic with the kids even though most of them were better players than me. From there we were shuttled back to The Staples Center for the actual game.

The Right Honourable Jeanne Mathilde Sauvé
Governor General:
Appointed:
January 28, 1984
Sworn In: May 14, 1984, Ottawa
Born: April 26, 1922, Prud'homme, Saskatchewan
Died: January 26, 1993
Throughout her distinguished career, the Right Honourable Jeanne Sauvé achieved a number of notable 'firsts'. In the House of Commons, she was the first female Cabinet member from Quebec, she was the first woman elected as Speaker of the House of Commons, she opened the first daycare on Parliament Hill, and she was the first woman to serve as Governor General. Mme Sauvé was a staunch advocate of issues surrounding youth and world peace, and the dove of peace is one of the elements incorporated into Madame Sauvé's coat-of-arms. Long before her vice-regal mandate, she worked as assistant to the Director of the Youth Secretariat of UNESCO, served as Secretary of the Canadian Committee for the World Assembly of Youth, and initiated and hosted a discussion show for youth. At Rideau Hall, she established two awards for students wishing to enter the field of special education for exceptional children. And at the end of her mandate, she established the Jeanne Sauvé Youth Foundation, dedicated to the cause of youth excellence in Canada. Mme. Sauvé's concern for youth and peace were two of the three central themes of her mandate – the third was national unity. She travelled extensively, making her role as Governor General – a symbol of our common identity – accessible to all Canadians. In her installation speech, she spoke about the need for Canadians to forego a narrow sense of their nation and become more tolerant. "This is the price of our happiness," she said, "but happiness will never be found in the spirit of 'every man for himself'."

Ice Hockey
Hockey was first brought to North America when British soldiers stationed in Nova Scotia, Canada, played the earliest games. By the 1870s, a group of college students at McGill University in Montreal were organizing games and had developed the first known set of hockey rules. In accordance with this new set of regulations, known as the "McGill rules," a puck was substituted for a rubber ball and the number of players on a team was set at nine. The National Hockey League was formed in 1910; there are currently 30 clubs competing in the National Hockey League.

The Charge Old time hockey can be violent, profane, and darned funny! Opening Statement An absolutely classic sports film, and one of a few to cover hockey, Slap Shot will please just about any sports fan with its humorous, sometimes serious, but dead-on take of minor league hockey and the towns that support it. Thanks to Universal, you may not realize this movie is over 20 years old! The Evidence I have to confess up front that hockey is one of my favorite sports to watch as a fan, and last year I had many an enjoyable night at rink-side watching the local minor-league hockey team go at it. By no means is this a prerequisite to enjoying the movie, but if you have any association with hockey, whether as a player or a fan, I think you will have an even better time appreciating this flick. Slap Shot is the story of the Charlestown Chiefs, a low-rent minor league hockey team that is struggling both in the standings and at the box office, due in part to the financial woes of the local plant, which is itself in danger of closing. As if the astounding fashions on display aren't enough of a clue, this story clearly takes place in the early 1970s when the Rust Belt was beginning to get hit by hard times.
