Drama
My primary non-academic focus has been centred around music and drama productions - both behind the scenes and on stage. A brief summary is below - the years are approximate, exact dates fail me!
  • ~1997-present - Either on stage, lighting director, sound director or overall technical director with lighting and/or sound responsibilities at The Hayes Manor School. This included crewing for an external organisation. - Technical crew at at The Hayes Manor School. - Lighting director for Charville Drama Group. Several shows per year, with 1-2 additional crew. - Programme design, aided set construction at The Hayes Manor School.
I have also been given the opportunity to teach the technical aspects of a music and drama production to the students at The Hayes Manor School, time allowing. At the same time I hope to have the opportunity to bring their facilities up to date. Technical crewing is a lot of fun, especially with the quality of students I have been working with.

Quiz on Prejudices - an interactive lesson and good starting point for discussion. http://www.eburg.com/beyond.prejudice/Quiz.html I missed a lot of these questions and found them to cover a large section of different kinds of discrimination. I'd recommend this site for information on prejudices- it provides some interesting statistics. Interesting site to collect great dicussion questions. One might take caution with taking the multiple choice and true/false quiz, many of the choices are not chooseable due to lack of detail in the questions being asked. For instance the first question uses the word "punishment" but it's not defined as a simple reprimand, a fine, or jail time. Do Something - Young People Changing the World. Activities and links. http://www.dosomething.org/ This link has the familiar celeb-centered look and hip-hop tone that adolescent net-junkies have come to expectan important aspect overlooked by a lot of sites. A couple of window buttons don't work on the current page. This isn't for "deep thoughts", but it is very accessible for new initiates to social justice issues. Lots of info and possiblities. Could possibly motivate the unmotivated.

MOLLY MURPHY MACGREGOR
President and Co-Founder of the National Women's History Project Molly Murphy MacGregor was taken aback by a teaching colleague's comment in 1972 that a semester-long women's history class that MacGregor was proposing to teach should take about an hour, "because what have women ever done, anyway?" The 40 high school students in her fully enrolled classes the next year left with a very different perspective. Read her bio
The following are the answers to the questions asked of Molly Murphy MacGregor. Q: Why did you decide you wanted to have a woman's history month?
Brittany, grade 4, Long Island Molly Murphy Macgregor: I was teaching women's history at the local community college. Women in my class did a project to see what their children were learning about women's history. In their research they discovered that there were very few books about women in the school libraries and that even those few books were rarely checked out. I thought if we established a special time to honor and recognize women, teachers would begin to teach about women and ask students to do reports on women. All this began over 21 years ago. We started with a week and expanded to a month. Our goal is to have women's history included in the classroom throughout the entire school year. Q: Was it hard to organize the NWHM (National Womans History Month)?

Alumni contributes to campus activites
Chris Burns helped establish alumni lecture series as well as
By Chad Clift , Northerner Contributor Published: Wednesday, October 9, 2002 Many students' have come and gone at Northern Kentucky University. Some have not left a single trace of their existence on this campus, while others remain involved, even 15 years after graduation. In May of 1987, Chris Burns accomplished what every student who goes to college dreams of—graduation. Burns graduated from NKU with a double major in history and journalism. While a student at NKU, he helped start a chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta fraternity on campus as well as becoming the editor of the Northerner. Starting his collegiate career Burns, attended the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati State, which was then Cincinnati Technical College, before settling down at NKU. Burns said he did not like going to either school and he finally chose to attend NKU because of the smaller campus and the smaller classes that were available.

Writing a Curriculum Vitae Curriculum Vitae vs. Resume A resume is a 1-2 page brief summary of education and experience used to demonstrate qualifications for a position or type of position. A curriculum vitae (CV) is a 3 or more page detailed biographical statement emphasizing qualifications and professional activities in detail. A CV is used for advanced positions in research and higher education and may be used for other positions when requested. For most job seekers, a resume is all that you will need. However, it may be useful to develop a CV as you further your education and achieve professional accomplishments. Why a Curriculum Vitae Besides using your CV to get a job upon graduation, it can also be used in other ways:
  • A supporting document to included when submitting a grant or funding proposal A requirement for an annual review with your employer A requirement for membership to a professional society A requirement for applying to medical school A background statement to be used to develop an introduction for a professional presentation at a conference or meeting
Content Areas of a Curriculum Vitae Below is a list of typical elements that go into a CV. Which elements you include depends on your area of study, the purpose of the CV, the recipient's requirements, and your qualifications.
