Welcome to the Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library The Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL), a unit of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Informatics Center, is the hub of the medical center's information services and resources. The EBL provides access to materials to support the patient care, healthcare education, and biomedical research missions of Vanderbilt University Medical Center EBL's collection development philosophy focuses on enabling information use at the point of need. EBL provides an extensive digital library of electronic journals, books, databases and other resources, in addition to over 200,000 print volumes. To preserve biomedical history, EBL provides a unique collection of rare books, photographs and historical items in its Historical Collection, and the Medical Center Archives serves as a repository for manuscripts and institutional records that reflect the history of the medical center and the history of medicine. The library is committed to service as well as leading edge research into information management and utilization and has developed numerous innovative programs which integrate information into workflow. These include the Clinical Patient , and Research Informatics Consult Services which place information specialists at the patient bedside or the research bench where they identify and meet information needs. | |
