Public Health Aspects of Reproductive Health Care (P8605)
Students will gain a general understanding of important reproductive health issues and the ways in which various organizations, agencies, and practioners address them. Topics covered include contraception, abortion, pregnancy complications and outcomes, family policies, and infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and STDs. Specifically, students will learn to identify key policies issues concerning each of the topic areas mentioned above from both a developed and developing country perspective, and will be able to examine the epidemiologic basis for these policies. Students are expected to discuss various policies and programs by making effective arguments through class participation and a series of short writing assignments. In Singapore the Master of Health Service Management can be completed by doing 8 topics over 16 months ( one topic every 2 months) and a 6000 word Individual Study assignment. The topics taught by visiting staff are:
