Human health Human health is intimately connected to the surrounding environment – every day most of us breathe in air pollution, digest artificial chemicals with our food, and experience stressful noise levels, to name just three examples. It is usually very difficult to identify cause-and-effect relationships between, say, noise pollution and heart disease. Identifying these relationships, however, is often worth the effort – linking environmental pollution to human health helps to redefine priorities and unlock resources. This section outlines those areas where human health is either known to be linked to the environment, or where there is enough evidence to justify preventive action. webmaster@eea.eu.int European Environment Agency, Kongens Nytorv 6, DK-1050 Copenhagen K, Denmark - Phone: +45 3336 7100 and

Healthy community design can benefit children in many important ways. At a time when obesity and diabetes are rising among children, when asthma continues to be highly prevalent, and when conditions such as attention deficit disorder may be on the rise, it is crucial to seek, understand, and implement environmental design solutions that might help with these health challenges.
School design is one example of how the built environment can influence children’s health. When new schools are built at a long distance from where families live, then children need to be driven to school, depriving them of an opportunity for physical activity and contributing to air pollution and risk for automobile crashes. On the other hand, if schools are located within walking or biking distance of where people live, and if safe routes to school are provided, then children can make walking or biking a part of their daily lives, establishing healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Much is now known about designing and building (or renovating) schools in ways that promote children’s health and school performance, providing plenty of light and fresh air, and using building materials that do not pose hazards to children.

the most flagrant scientific fraud of all time
    INTRODUCTION
This web site was created by a woman who experienced increasingly severe allergic, arthritic, gastro-intestinal, and other symptoms of fluoride poisoning from age seven to age twenty-five; changed her diet in 1966, and eliminated all health problems within a year. Other than a few accidental exposures, avoidance of fluoride since that time has prevented a return of symptoms. As stated by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario These may include one or more of the following:
    0.095 mg/kg/day
. Even in Grenada it can be difficult to find local fruits and vegetables that haven't been contaminated with fluoride from modern agricultural chemicals. Products imported from other countries, such as ordinary black or green tea, breakfast cereals, processed pork, beef, and chicken, grape juice, wines, etc., are almost certain to provide significant quantities of fluoride, as will fluoride toothpaste. "Look, lady, if the abstracts don't agree with the originals, there must be something wrong with the originals." In 1978 Michigan became the first state to repeal a mandatory fluoridation law.

Sustainable Animal Production - Visions for the 21th century Welcome to our Website
Sustainable animal production is a system which preserves the basis of life of future generations. The foundations, conditions and perspectives for animal production are exceedingly variable in different parts of the world. This project focusses on the future supply and quality of food for humans and animals, animal welfare and health, the effects of animal production on the environment, the influences of new technologies, future animal production sites and global trade. These pages contain the Conference Sustainable Animal Production , the documentation of a multidisciplinary project to develop a global vision for the future of the production of food of animal origin. This site is also intended as a forum to continue the dialogue begun in the virtual conference and workshop series "Sustainable Animal Production". The project was realized by a consortium of scientists from four research institutions in northern Germany and includes a virtual conference launched in October, 1999, and followed by a series of

By Fariss Samarrai C hristine Wilder walks two paths, keeping each close enough to converge.
By overlaying geographical information in the areas where she conducted medical surveys, Wilder discovered that asthma rates seem to be increasing in the same areas where eucalyptus, a tree native to Australia, is cultivated for timber and lumber. The exotic tree is being used to replace native trees and could affect the health of local people, she said. Wilder also found that alien grasses and degraded soils may be linked to increasing asthma rates. This kind of information could be useful to land managers and health experts.

... Prevention The Department of the Planet Earth was organized in 1991 by citizens from the United States and Canada, concerned about the rapid decline of global environment, global pollution of ecosystems, health injuries from toxins, and lifestyles and economies like that of the United States and Canada featuring such waste that they challenge Earth's future. There has been a proposal to convert the US Environmental Protection Agency into a Cabinet office or Department of the Environment . This effort failed, as well as an effort to write pollution prevention into the charter of the new agency. And so, the concept of a Department of the Planet Earth is still unrealized.
