Teaching kids that fitness is fun
Julie Hankins, 37, teaches children's fitness at Fyt Kids, her own storefront school.
SOKOL E-mail: Click here By MARLENE SOKOL, Times Staff Writer Published February 6, 2004 WEST MEADOWS - Does she have the attention span of a gnat? Or do you have to have a short attention span when you spend your day with small children? "Show me your bubbles," Julie Hankins cajoles when she needs the kids to quiet down and listen. Ah, so she's a pro. "You splattered," she tells a boy who has fallen on the well-padded play gym floor. "You okay? Shake it out." Hankins is on the front line in the fight for children's fitness, in more ways than one.
