    Pan-Negroism in New Guinea
    A recent article in the Los Angeles Times; "A West Papua independance declaration is likely to provoke new bloodshed," (Friday, April 20, 2000) by Dana R. Dillon; clearly points to what Blacks worldwide have been successfully eliminating around the globe; THAT BEING OPPRESSION, OCCUPATION AND COLONIALISM THROUGH ARMED STRUGGLE. It has been made clear and is a known fact, that the Black Melanesian as well as Black people in other parts of Asia are part of the Pan-African or Pan-Negro peoples and that the elimination of racism, religious colonialism and racism and colonialism is the aim and objective of Pan-Africans worldwide. The article makes a crucial point which leads many to believe that an enormous conflagration will erupt in Asia very soon among the oppressed Blacks and the oppressors, and that current wars in Africa and other regions are merely a prelude of and preparation of things to come in the Black regions of Asia. The writer of the article, Dana R. Dillon continues, "East Timor was rife with military crimes, but even now in the restive province of Aceh, the military is conducting 'security operations," considered b many to be the worse in memory for naked violence. If this is how the Indonesian military treats the Acehnese-fellow Muslims belong to the Indo-Malay ethnic group and largely prefer to remain part of Indonesiahow much worse will it be for the Christian, dark-skinned and independant-minded Papuans?"

            In this region the style of woodcarving is abstract. Distortion is often used to emphasize features of spiritual significance. The figures of the Dogon tribe of central Mali stress the cylindrical shape of the torso. Some wooden carvings were made by an earlier people, the Tellem. Sculptures such as masks carved of soft wood are homes for the spirits and are discarded once they have been used in rituals. The Dogon have three distinctive styles of sculpture: masks incorporating recessed rectangles, ancestor sculptures carved in abstract geometric style used as architectural supports, and freestanding figures made in a cylindrical style. High-ranking Dogon families often had carved doors on their granaries.

African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child Establishment and members The Organization of African Unity was established in 1963 in Addis Abeba. From 32 independent Member States in 1963, the independent Member States of Africa are now 53. The OAU is entering from political liberalization to phase two by focusing on the economic integration. It has therefore a new mandate and new responsibilities which will by no means make it abandon its political character and its resolve to sustain peace and security in the continent which are crucial for the socio-economic development process. Purposes and principles The following purposes and principles are stated in OAU charter adopted in 1963 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The OAU objectives are stated in Article II of the CHARTER as follows
    to promote the unity and solidarity of the African States;
    . to co-ordinate and intensify their cooperation and efforts to achieve a better life for the peoples of Africa;
    . to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity and independence;

    “In response to your comment of the Jamaican who is the African artist in residence, I feel that it is important to be tolerant of the idea that Africanism is not limited to the continent. People of the island of Jamaica are still of African descent, they just happen to live in the Caribbean . Let us not split hairs about where an African lives today, it is more important to maintain the bloodline of Africans throughout the Diaspora. In this 21st century there are too many other people trying to divide us, we can't afford to divide ourselves. Instead we should create alliances with the African artists from around the world!” Aida Ayers

    African philosophy
    In order to indicate the range of some of the kinds of material that must be included in a discussion of philosophy in Africa, it is as well to begin by recalling some of the history of Western philosophy. It is something of an irony that Socrates , the first major philosopher in the Western tradition, is known to us entirely for oral arguments imputed to him by his student Plato . For the Western philosophical tradition is, above all else, a tradition of texts. While there are some important ancient philosophers, like Socrates As a result, discussions of African philosophy should include both material on some oral cultures and rather more on the philosophical work that has been done in literate traditions on the African continent, including those that have developed since the introduction of Western philosophical training there.
    1 Oral cultures
    Two areas of folk-philosophy have been the object of extended scholarly investigation in the late twentieth century: the philosophical psychology of people who speak the Akan languages of the west African littoral (now Ghana) (see Akan philosophical psychology ) and the epistemological thought of Yoruba-speaking people of western Nigeria (see Yoruba epistemology ). In both cases the folk ideas of the tradition have been addressed by contemporary speakers of the language with Western philosophical training. This is probably the most philosophically sophisticated work that has been carried out in the general field of the philosophical study of folk-philosophy in Africa. It also offers some insight into ways of thinking about both the mind and human cognition that are different from those that are most familiar within the Western tradition.
