The Teaching Profession
Whether you are currently an Ontario certified teacher or are thinking about becoming a teacher, here is some information important to the teaching profession.
Ontario Teaching Certification
To teach in a publicly funded school in Ontario, you need an Ontario teaching certificate. To obtain a teaching certificate you will normally need an undergraduate degree, one year of teacher training and you need to successfully complete an entry-to-practice assessment. The provincial government is exploring an induction program for first-year teachers. In addition, the government intends to replace the Ontario Teacher Qualifying Test (OTQT) with an alternative assessment that all teachers new to Ontario would be required to complete, following their first year of teaching. Teaching English in Taiwan
INTRODUCTION
Teachers of English as a Second Language (ESL) are in great demand in Taiwan. With more than a thousand schools in the Taipei area alone, it is relatively easy to find work. For ESL job ads, look in the classified sections of the three local English newspapers: the China Post , the Taipei Times and the Taiwan News . ESL departments exist within Mandarin training centres of the major universities, such as the National Taiwan University, the National Normal University in Taipei, the Tunghai University in Taichung and the National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung. Also search the Internet for information about teaching English and introductory facts about Taiwan. To work legally in Taiwan you must have a resident visa that specifically states you are permitted to accept employment. (See "

Teaching English in Korea
INTRODUCTION
The key to happy and fruitful employment as a language instructor in Korea is to be employed by a reputable school. Some Canadian citizens have come to Korea under contract with promises of generous
salaries, bonuses and other amenities, and many are quite satisfied with the experience. A minority, however, have found themselves in positions far different from those originally promised.
Canadian government offices are not permitted to become involved in any case, conduct an investigation, or act as lawyers or mediators in any personal, legal or contractual conflicts experienced by Canadian citizens. They cannot investigate, certify or vouch for prospective employers. It is up to each individual to evaluate any employment offer before signing a contract. However, if you encounter employment difficulties, the Seoul Metropolitan government has recently established an office for foreign business persons which deals with many types of situations including community services, information on Korea and contacts regarding specific issues. For nearly three decades, Professor John Norton Moore has been teaching a course on RULE OF LAW Controlling government in Contemporary Legal Thought
http://www.virginia.edu/cnsl/teaching.htm
Preparing future generations of scholars and leaders to deal intelligently with issues of national security law is perhaps the Center's highest priority. Both the Director and the Associate Director teach at the University of Virginia School of Law, and the most important part of the Center's work to date has involved teaching and course preparation. For more than three decades, Professor John Norton Moore has been teaching a course on national security law at the law school, which began as the first course in the nation of its kind. He has also taught the subject at Georgetown University Law Center and American University School of Law. In addition, Professor Moore teaches courses in oceans law and policy, international law, and rule of law; in past years he has taught courses in the Constitution and foreign affairs powers, and the goals of U.S. foreign policy. For more than twenty years, Professor Moore also served as the Director of the Graduate Law Program at Virginia, during which time he oversaw the training and advanced scholarship of hundreds of attorneys and legal scholars from the United States and around the world. Many of his former students have gone on to hold senior positions in government or to academic prominence. He continues to supervise graduate work on a regular basis. Ireland could teach us quite a lot Aug. 7, 2005 12:00 AM Something in Ireland stirs the imagination of Michael Crow. For the second time since November, Arizona State University's high-octane president has coaxed some influential Arizonans overseas to see for themselves the mighty economic engine emerging there. Even Gov. Janet Napolitano joined the group that visited late last month.
By all accounts, the Arizonans came away impressed and convinced that the Emerald Isle can teach the Grand Canyon State some essential lessons. The day they arrived, five multinational companies, including Pfizer and Citigroup, announced they were establishing major research operations in Ireland, underscoring the country's move from low-cost manufacturing to high-end science. Arizona has nothing like the private-sector research-and-development facilities announced that day.
"Ireland shows that if you can develop a consensus and a joint commitment, you can turn an economy around," Napolitano said.
