Richardson to teach class on government
By Rachel Stohr Published: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Honor students planning to enroll in a weekly seminar this spring may already recognize the name of their instructor.
Gov. Bill Richardson will teach a 400-level seminar entitled, "How New Mexico State Government Works: The Key Players and the Key Issues."
The class is one of several seminars reserved for University honors and graduate students. It will meet Fridays in Dane Smith Hall from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Chris Bibeau said he plans to take the seminar, although Richardson's views on politics are far different from his own.
"I'm really interested in the way government works," he said. "So I'll approach it with an open mind, and we'll see."
Richardson will donate the stipend he receives from UNM to a scholarship fund. He wrote about his intentions to students in a statement on Monday.

Teaching and Learning The Model United Nations course is the major example in our curriculum of the use of simulations as a teaching strategy. Others have used this strategy in the past, for example in Govt. 153, a simulation of a Constitutional convention has been used to address issues of the structure of the presidency and ways it might be reformed, and in Govt. 155, a simulation of the legislative process in the House of Representatives has been used several times.
involved in the governmental/political process use these skills. As well, in both service learning settings and internships, our students provide valuable service to the program or office where they work. Teaching Strategies

U.S. Government Funded Programs Teach Masturbation to Five-Year-Olds WASHINGTON, September 9, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Even the powers of the Bush administration seem to be unable to stop the institutionalized indoctrination of children in sex "education" programmes. The powerful Center for Disease Control has granted over $500,000 US to the radical sex and perversion promoters, Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS). SIECUS programmes give a cynical nod to abstinence education as a part of what they call "comprehensive sexuality education," but continue to include explicit instructions in sexual practices of any description to young children, some as young as five.
SIECUS is notorious for its aggressive promotion of sexual activity for children as young as nine, and has come under fire repeatedly by Christian and other morally conservative groups over the last twenty years. They are a network of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual and feminist organizations that promote libertine and deviant sexual activities in schools and lobbies at the state and federal levels.

Teach-in reveals truth about Cuban culture, government
By Summer Witts Published: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 Media Credit: Meghan Vendettoli Social psychologists Bernice and Al Lott detail their trip to Cuba as part of the Cuba Teach-In.
02/18/04 - A projector flashed a slide of two smiling faces across a wide screen in Atrium II of the Memorial Unions yesterday afternoon. It was a photograph of Naomi and Abel, a Cuban couple who artist John Kotula of Wakefield met while in Havana during the summer of 2002.
"Who would have thought, a Cuban man who can't dance," Kotula said Abel joked about Naomi's aversion to dancing. Abel loved to dance, but Naomi, a sound technician, preferred listening to music instead and hoped to study music in the United States in hopes of becoming a disc jockey.
Kotula talked about his meeting with the pair to a small group of professors, students and humanitarians gathered together to discuss the social, economic, political and artistic aspects of Cuban culture in a daylong teach-in sponsored by the URI Multicultural Center.
As Kotula went through his slides of a policeman, an out of work fisherman, a lawyer and a landlady, as well as a dozen or so photographs of famous Cuban artists and their work, one could gain a sense of Cuban culture people in the United States are not usually exposed to.
