The "new" Etonic is led by an experienced team of footwear professionals focused solely on re-building the Etonic brand and company as a global golf leader. While our team is respectful of Etonic's rich 127 year heritage, we are most passionate about the future and our opportunity to evolve the golf footwear and glove categories with a renewed spirit and energy.
Since 1945, when Etonic first introduced a golf shoe, golfers around the world have trusted Etonic's products to deliver superior comfort, quality and value. The company's ongoing evolution has been driven by technical innovation and supported by an impressive history of "firsts": the first golf-specific shoe last, the first waterproof golf shoe, the first performance combination leather and microfiber glove, the first bio-mechanically designed outsole, the first revolutionary spikeless "Difference" technology. Today, all of our competitors use some or many of the technologies which Etonic pioneered.
We are fortunate to have this storied history of firsts, and now it is our job to add to the list. Our 2005 collections of footwear and gloves are built to provide serious golfers with products that help evolve their performance, their stability, their comfort, and their confidence. The next generation of Stabilizer technology can be seen in our new comfort footwear, as well as in our new golf glove line which is engineered to deliver the "perfect fit".

Instinctively, these great players and writers discovered the same things science is now explaining. We have added a few short comments (green, italic text) to give our view about these quotes. Alex Morrison:
''The swing starts from the center of the body, under the influence of centrifugal force." The bio-mechanical center of any swing movement is a point located roughly at the intersection of the collar bones and the breast bone in the upper chest/neck area. The movement of the arms is a result of the rotation of the shoulders. The arms are a connecting link between the shoulders and the club head ... at the conscious level they are nothing more than an extension of the club. Any muscle activity in the arms should be sub-conscious, reflex action. Conscious effort is unnecessary! The movement of the lower body is a response to the position of the upper body. As the center of the swing moves laterally, the lower body "shifts to the left or right" to maintain balance. The golf swing is made from the swing center out to the arms and on to the clubhead AND the golf swing is also made from the swing center down to the feet. The movement of the swing center controls the swing!

Tour veteran John Cook has 10 victories to his credit, but has failed to erase the "Best Player Never To Win A Major" tag from his bio sheet, an asterisk to an otherwise brilliant career that could have been deleted in 1992 with a key lag putt.
It was the 71st hole of the British Open at Muirfield, and Cook trailed leader Nick Faldo by one stroke. Cook proceeded to reach the 542-yard, par-5 17th with a beautiful long-iron shot, and was left with what seemed like a makeable 30-footer for eagle to take the lead.
Of course, a safe two-putt would have produced a birdie and a tie. Unfortunately for Cook, he slid his eagle attempt nearly two feet past the hole, and missed the tricky come-backer. Although he made par, the three-putt led to a third Claret Jug for Faldo, and a devastating loss for Cook. Ironically, at the 1972 Open, Tony Jacklin three-putted the same green to fall a stroke behind eventual winner Lee Trevino. At the '92 British Open, John Cook faced a go-ahead 30-foot eagle putt on the 71st hole. His agony epitomized the frustration of anyone who has three-putted to lose.

The influence of microbial and organic-based products on putting green performance.
    By Frank S. Rossi
Turfgrass research is a burgeoning scientific discipline and is investigating the most important challenges facing golf course superintendents. A growing number of scientists are interested in the basic aspects of heat stress, winter injury, lethal diseases, and soil nutrient management. Often, the science has implications that might elude the practical golf turf industry. Science does not always take a direct path from A to B. In every scientific endeavor there is The objective of this research is to critically evaluate commercially available microbial- and organic-based products and compare them to traditional nutrient sources for effect on putting green performance. a question to be asked and answered through trial and error. The challenge for today's “want the answer now” world is patience. Not every study has a practical application, but often it is a piece of a more complex puzzle. The fact is, we know preciously little about the dynamic nature of the golf ecosystem. Much of our current thinking is derived from practical problem solving research (e.g., product evaluation studies). Getting to the underlying biological mechanism is tedious, expensive, and time consuming. As a result, long-term needs are sacrificed for solving immediate problems.
