Larry Angeli
Vice President of Marketing
When asked about his early days as a sales guy for NCR, he sounds like a football coach, explaining how his team regularly “beat up” the competition and “had a ball” doing it. When the topic of the dotcom crash comes up, he talks about it like someone who learned important lessons from going through that experience, calling the ups and downs “fascinating.” To put it simply, Compuware’s Vice President of Marketing, Larry Angeli, comes to work with energy and enthusiasm. Immediately after graduating from Michigan State University with bachelors’ degrees in Marketing and Telecommunications, Larry started his career with NCR, selling banking technology to financial institutions. Sales success in “tumbleweed towns” earned a transfer to Detroit and the job of managing strategic major accounts. Along the way, Larry earned an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University. Continued success brought Larry an opportunity at NCR’s headquarters in Dayton, Ohio, directing a worldwide marketing program based on data warehousing for global financial companies. The program’s purpose was to help banks better understand the profitability of their customers and offer CRM capability. Larry led the launch of the program around the world—including Japan, the United Kingdom and North America—to great success. After nearly 12 years with NCR, Larry left the Midwest for New England and the role of Vice President of Marketing for EastPoint Technology, a division of Metavante Inc. Here was an opportunity to work in a start-up environment and achieve profitability for a company that had little market share. With Larry’s leadership, EastPoint ascended rapidly—and impressively—to a leadership position in the marketplace.

A Detroit-area native, he’s worked his entire professional career in Ohio in just about every function radio and TV have to offer. Duties have included news reporter, play-by-play sportscaster, drama critic and storm-chaser. If he can stand the excitement, he hopes to make WCPN/WVIZ a permanent home.
