There are represented decorative forms, glassware, drinking sets, decorative monumental objects both from non-coloured as well as coloured glass. Of the glass processing techniques can be seen both cold glass technique as well as hot glass technique, but just as well several techniques created by individual authors.
History
It was not until 1936 that the speciality of glass art was established at the State School of Arts and Crafts, so glasswork is one of the youngest fields of professional Estonian applied art. During its early years, the Estonian glass art was predominantly influenced by the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden) and Czech glass art. In 1938-1970 the head of the department of glass art was Maks Roosma
The following artists from among the first students of Roosma and by the same token from among the classics of Estonian glass art should be mentioned: . The first four designed the production of the glass factory Tarbeklaas from the 1950s up to the 1980s. Pilvi Ojamaa
But in general the Estonian glass art can be characterised by laconic and simple design as the sets by Silvia Raudvee

Techniques and a brief history of decorated glass
Glass engraving is an art form that dates back some 3000 years to the civilisations of Egypt and the fabled Babylon. Chemistry, as well as artistry, continued to refine the materials, tools and techniques through the ages. Erika Van Dewark is a modern mistress of this ancient art, following in the tradition of the classic Bohemian and Venetian designers

A glass object, once formed into its desired shape, is the blank canvas for the glass artist. The surface is marked with a pattern or image and then etched or cut using a variety of techniques. The basic tool is a hard wheel on the end of a spindle. The surface of the glass is held against the spinning wheel, and lubricated with an oil-and-abrasive paste. A variety of profiles and sizes of wheel produce different facets and shapes of cut. Stippling and line etching is also achieved with a fine diamond or tungsten carbide-tipped drill.
These workshop techniques originate from those of the lapidary (gemstone cutter). Although extraordinary dexterity is required, a glass engraver without artistic flair will never be more than a fine technician. To create a thing of beauty and grace, to be an artist in glass, is a rare and exceptional calling, as it demands a combination of skill, patience and creative vision.

For over a decade this website was devoted specifically to the presentation of my million volt electric space-art on glass. Nothing has changed in that respect, as that endeavor continues with passion, expanding even into Sponsorship of J. P. Aerospace (see below) and more. Also, my site is expanding in every direction of my artistic interest, adding archival photographs over my life and career, plus other art-works - many under my original name of David Nelson - plus songs, poems, and Writings For fans, collectors, and friends who have faithfully followed my glass painting space-art career, some of you for three decades, you may be surprised here, since much of this material has never been seen. Around age ten I spent untold hours at my bedroom desk, clunking out stories on an antique typewriter that must have weighed half as much as a Volkswagen. Everyone said I should be a writer, so I became a painter. I still write obviously, and I still work in other ways than reverse glass, i.e., acrylic, oils, watercolor, and ink, on various materials including canvas, paper and wood. The fact is, I have finally reached that blessed state known to the aging as: NO MORE B.S. I hope you enjoy this more well "rounded" view of myself and my work. For those of you new to my high voltage space-art, some words for you concerning (that) ongoing obsession. Known as "reverse glass," or "verso" painting, these works are partially accomplished using millions of volts of electricity as a "paint brush". Begun in 1970, as a joint endeavor with artist

The most unusual object here is a bowl probably made in Iran in the 9th-10th century which was given as a gift from the ruler of the Turkoman Aq-Koyunlu to the Venetian Signoria in 1472, and later set in a gold and silver mount and placed in the treasury of St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice. The opaque turquoise blue color of the glass is rare, and the inscription "Khorasan", a region in Northeast Iran where turquoise stone is known to originate, may hint at a past attempt at deception. Also in this introductory area is a display of the tools used to manufacture glass, including two of the only dip-molds to survive from the medieval Islamic world. A video is most helpful here in demonstrating some of the basic glassmaking techniques to those who have never before observed them. As an archaeologist, I much appreciated a small section focusing on glass obtained from the scientific excavation of Islamic sites. Unfortunately, I have observed too often the indifferent recovery of glass shards from even much older sites (Roman and Byzantine), so it is comforting to see that archaeologists in the Near East, especially in Israel, have given this material so much careful attention. Text in this section outlined some of the problems related to the study of excavated glass, including the wide distribution of glassworks as luxury goods in trade, as well as the shipping of discards to be melted down and reused. This ancient recycling system prohibits researchers from determining the provenience of an object from its chemical composition alone, but other studies of chronology and manufacture are furthered by the study of excavated glass.
