Significance of DAI research for cultural policy The 175 th anniversary of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI)
On 10 November 2004, the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) will mark its 175 th anniversary with a festive ceremony in Berlin. Federal Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer will host the event, which will be held in the Weltsaal at the Federal Foreign Office and will be attended by some 500 international guests from the fields of academia, culture and politics. The event will pay tribute to 175 years of DAI-sponsored international academic research and DAI commitment to cultural policy. To mark this anniversary, the Federal Foreign Office will also host an international congress lasting several days entitled "Archäologie Aktuell – Moderne Forschung – Globale Partnerschaft" (ARCHAEOLOGY TODAY – Modern Research – Global Partnership). Also, the work of the DAI will be presented at an exhibition entitled "Between cultures and continents" from 10 to 28 November in the Federal Foreign Office Atrium. It will feature 62 large-format posters outlining the various fields of activity of the DAI, both in Germany and abroad, as well as numerous current research projects.
