The Chandler's of Coweta County Georgia
    Updated September 6, 2000
It was copies of old letters that Clark(e) Chandler wrote while guarding Yankee prisoners at Andersonville prison that got me hooked on doing a family tree for my friend Bennie Clark Davis, Clark Chandler's great great grandson.
Clark, b Nov. 16, 1816, was the first of nine children of William and Elizabeth Frances Chandler. Clark was one of five sons who served with the Georgia military during the War Between The States. Of the five Chandlers boys, only brother John survived the war. Clark's oldest son William Jesse, b Mar. 12, 1848, also died in the war at age 16.
Clark enlisted as a Private in Company H, 1st Regiment, Georgia Reserves on May 2, 1864. He also is recorded as being a member of Company H, 7th Regiment, Georgia State Guards. We believe he first served at a "camp 3 miles above Atlanta" and then marched to Atlanta to board the train to the Andersonville Ga. prison for a few months. He then transfered back to Atlanta again where he was wounded. He died of his wounds on his way home and is buried in a small family cemetery on Blalock Road.
Now Bennie, let me get back to what I should be doing ... looking for Joseph William Berry, my great grandfather who was a "spinner" in the cotton mills in Lowell Massachusetts. He was married to ROSE McKEON and the parents of my grandfather, William Henry, born in 1870. If you see him around, tell him I'm looking for him or e-mail me. Thanks

This page is dedicated to the descendants of William Barlow, who moved to Clinch County, Georgia from Montgomery County, Georgia in 1870. His father, a native of Robeson County, North Carolina, had migrated to Georgia in the 1840s along with many of his neighbors. As a member of the Barlow family by marriage, I have had a chance to research their roots and observe their lives for the past forty-two years. God-fearing, strong-willed and opinionated, they have impressed me with their belief in the old-fashioned virtues like honesty, hard work, devotion to family, and generosity to others less fortunate than they. I count it a privilege to be a Barlow in name, if not by blood. Site Map Jim and Mary Barlow 1791 Walker Ridge Drive Marietta, GA 30064

This is a Southern History of the Adcock, Blackwell, O'Kelley and Yates Families. Locales include Virginia, both Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
Thomas O'Kelley b. abt 1723 and Elizabeth Dean are the first couple in my O'Kelley line. I am interested in finding a relationship, if any, between Thomas and James O'Kelley founder of the Southern Christian Church.
Earliest Adcock couple is John Adcock b. abt 1772 and Lydia Lowe. First Blackwells were James Blackwell b. abt 1647 and Lydia Turner whereas my first Yates was Burrell Yeates b abt 1772.
It would be my pleasure to trade information.

The time and work put into genealogy research was done with love, and that all future generations of the Harpers know who they were. That they existed and were remembered and loved. I hope you study this and maybe see a little of who we are, and who we came from. The hardships they had endured for us, for in the future, we, their descendents, could have a better and more fruitful life. And giving us the choice to follow our dreams. North Carolina and southern Georgia

Welcome to my Genealogy Site! Although I have lived in Michigan since I was four years old, all my roots 'n relatives are in the south. My heart belongs to western North Carolina, with the majestic mountains and beautiful waterfalls and we hope to retire there in the near future. One thing that I've discovered in my research is that almost everybody with roots in Jackson, Transylvania and surrounding counties are related, usually in several ways. So if you have ancestors from this area the chances are excellent that we are cyber-cousins, e-mail me and we'll find out. All information at my site may be used freely for private, non-commercial use. Please be aware that I have over 33,000 names in my database at this time and, except for my own direct lines, this information has not been personally verified. The information on this site represents a compilation of material from many written sources, internet databases and data generously shared with me by other researchers. I have recently seen some other genealogy sites on the Internet listing this site as a source for their information and this disturbs me. The information found here is meant to be a starting point for personal research and should not be used as a source for documentation purposes. If you find any information that you believe is in error (and I'm sure you will) please politely let me know and I will be happy to correct it. I gladly accept unsolicited donations if you agree that the information can be posted on this site. So pull up a rocker and sit a spell on the porch. We'll look out at the beautiful Smoky Mountains, sip some sweet tea and you can meet the family.

    98. Buford, Georgia History And Genealogy
Brief history and genealogy information on Buford, georgia.
    http://patsabin.com/gwinnett/buford.htm
    Buford, Georgia
In the 1860s there were few permanent inhabitants of the area now occupied by Buford. Silas King and his family lived in what is now downtown Buford. William Sudderth owned land to the south and east of King. Wyatt Wilson owned more than 1000 acres north of Buford. Other early families were William Scales, Benjamin M. Bagby, Willis Benson, James M. Dodd, Jacob Moulder, John Calloway, all of whom were large land holders and, for the most part, slave owners. Otheres were William Garner, Burton C. Cloud, George and Noah Brogdon, Isham Born, Daniel O. Born, Harrison R. Brogdon, and Hope J. Brogdon. Soon after the Civil War construction began on the railroad from Atlanta to Charlotte, North Carolina. Among the original stockholders were Thomas S. Garner, Thomas Alexander, Amos Fox, B. Y. Saye, and Larkin Smith. While the road was under construction a camp was set up on the property of Silas King for the road crew. Silas King was the first non-Indian to occupy the area of the town of Buford. He as an evangelical Baptist minister, born in South Carolina in 1779. He moved to Gwinnett County in the 1820's and lived for several years newar Mt. Mariah Baptist Church where he served as pastor. Mr. Garner and Mr. Larkin bought property and divided it into lots for a town, and named the town after A. S. Buford, President of the railroad.

Camden and Charlton Counties, Georgia My photo projects are of great joy to me. I am not a professional photographer in any way, but I do enjoy taking photos of various places around the county. I have done a "layout" on the Mills House and Cemetery, Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, Coleraine, the St. Marys River, Burnt Fort, the Pacetti House, Oak Grove Cemetery, and more. All of these are under the history section. Included in this Genealogy section of my site are my cemetery records, gedcoms (family databases), lists of interesting local books, maps, and more. Please feel free to browse this information. A special warning: This information is subject to change without notice. I do try to put up notices whenever a major change occurs; however, I usually will not bother if it is a small change. I cannot guarantee that any of this information is correct. The only information I have personally gathered would be much of the cemetery records. If you find a mistake, please let me know about it and I will recheck the information and correct it as necessary. The most common mistakes in genealogical research are:
    • Not using family group sheets and pedigree charts.
