Georgia teachers can earn recertification credit with Spotlight on Algebra
Spotlight on Algebra has been used in schools and professional development programs across Georgia . Teachers who took this initial offering of Spotlight provided many ideas and suggestions which have since been incorporated into the course. Some of these classes have been taught in professional development programs in public schools, university education courses and in a state Regional Education Service Area (RESA). Teachers successfully completing Spotlight on Algebra can receive five Georgia Staff Development Unit (SDU) credits towards recertification. Georgia teachers who wish to earn SDU credit with Spotlight need to complete and submit the Staff Development Program Application for SDU Credit Prior Approval Form , along with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Letter of Approval , to their school or district professional development office.

Objective 1: Improve the quality of teaching in Georgia through comprehensive and integrative changes in teacher recruitment, teacher preparation, teacher standards, teacher professional development, and teacher retention.
Objective 2: Improve student achievement in Georgia’s schools through improving the quality of teaching.
To accomplish these goals, specific objectives have been developed. Those objectives include:

... SDRC InTech Policies and Procedures InTech is a technology professional development program designed, implemented, and tested by the Educational Technology Center at Kennesaw State University. Realizing a need for the effective use of technology within the K-12 curriculum, Dr. Traci Redish and Linda Whitacre pioneered the InTech program in 1996 with 75 classroom teachers. The program proved to be an effective approach for delivering technology staff development that focuses on how to successfully INtegrate TECHnology into the K-12 curriculum. The A+ Education Reform Act of 2000 recognized Georgia's Phase One InTech Professional Development Program as the premier technology integration training solution for Georgia educators. InTech is one acceptable path for meeting the Special Georgia Technology Requirement. Distance Learning and Professional Education (DLPE)
Georgia Institute of Technology The Director of Marketing reports to the Vice Provost-DLPE and is responsible for all marketing related to DLPE's degree, credit certificate, non-credit certificate and professional education programs delivered via distance learning, campus programs, and at corporate sites. The Director of Marketing works closely with DLPE leadership to assess market demand, conduct market research, and promote the development of both corporate and open-enrollment programs. She/He will create, manage, and deploy marketing strategies for successful and financially viable educational programs. S/He also works with the Director of Information Technology Support Services to make DLPE a leader in electronic communications and marketing.
This position must represent the offerings of DLPE in a professional and high quality manner in order to increase enrollment in credit courses, professional education offerings and new programs, and GLCC space rentals. Principal customer development duties of this position include increasing income by increasing the number of participants in current and planned DLPE programs and reducing course cancellations. A key responsibility is the development of complete marketing plans to support and grow DLPE programs. Specific responsibilities include development and production of the periodic program guides/catalogs, print and web advertising, collateral materials such as brochures, an annual course list poster, and any other promotional materials, corporate presentations, personal contacts or events which represent the educational offerings of DLPE.
