Georgia Education Resources
I'll highlight other topics soon, but the Georgia education controversies have been drawing quite a few readers to my blog. For those readers who are interested in the topic, here are a couple of useful links: And as Jason reminded me, proposed changes to Georgia's US history curriculum have been largely ignored . In their 11th grade US history courses, students will study the Exploration era for three weeks before focusing on events from 1876 to the present, essentially ignoring the Civil War, the Trail of Tears, Lewis and Clark, and other important historical events. In the changes to both the history and the science curriculum, two motivations seem to be at play. First, the new curriculum seems designed to prepare Georgia students for statewide tests used to measure school performance. As Joseph Jarrell points out: States are facing new federal mandates to improve test scores. Interestingly, states can devise many of the tests used to measure this improvement. While mandating that we teach less, Georgia will prepare assessments that test less. Interesting formula: teach less, test less, brag more. Second, the curriculum also seems designed to avoid any form of controversy, whether the "controversial" theory of evolution, which Cox describes as a "negative buzzword" or the more controversial aspects of American history.

We have created this page to help you find the information, resources and strength you need regardless of your stage in the breast cancer journey. We hope it will encourage more women and men to become involved with us in the fight against breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund's (NBCCF) 12th Annual Advocacy Training Conference and Lobby Day was a great success! Georgians joined over 600 advocates to make our voices heard. The conference ended with Lobby Day, where advocates put their training to use on Capitol Hill. For more information about this year's conference visit

FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings and thank you for visiting the GAPA website. We are proud to say that we are celebrating our Diamond Anniversary. For over thirty years the GAPA has promoted access to health care in Georgia by utilizing Physician Assistants. This site has been designed to show you how we accomplish this goal. We have installed many informative links on many subjects: legislative issues, Regulatory and Rules changes, local meetings, and, best of all, our job listings. The links will help keep you abreast of the issues affecting PAs in the state of Georgia and the Nation. Please click on Talent Survey and take a few moments to inform us of your interest and talents. We are always searching for new involvement at many different levels. The GAPA can only be a strong organization as long as its members are well informed, are willing to serve their profession, and are working to make Georgia a great place to practice.
If you have any questions regarding membership, conference registrations, or other items that are operational in nature, please e-mail the GAPA office at info@gapa.net
