65. USGS Geography Information: Home Page
National mapping information from the US geological Survey.
http://geography.usgs.gov/
The USGS conducts science for a changing world. USGS Geography monitors the changes that occur on the land surface using remote sensing, studies the connections between people and those changes, and then provides individuals and society with information they can use to cope with the consequences of those changes. Land changes can be very gradual or sudden. They can be natural such as forest regrowth after a lightning-caused fire or a volcanic eruption. They can also be caused by human action such as converting forestland to residential land. Sometimes, the consequences of natural processes are magnified because of human action such as when debris flows that might have harmed a forest, now harm a neighborhood. Geography’s main challenges are:
  • To understand coupled human environmental systems in the face of land change
  • To deliver pertinent information on the vulnerability and resilience of these systems for decisionmaking
Geography is a bridging, integrating, and synthesizing science. We combine our talents with scientists in other disciplines to make a difference as we improve people’s ability to prosper as the land changes.

About Us
The Publications Section edits and produces publications for distribution and sale to the public through the sales office at the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS). We work closely with the geologists at the WSGS, as well as outside authors, to develop desirable products that will provide valuable information on Wyoming geology and minerals to the general public, private industry, government agencies, and universities world-wide. Our publications are available mostly as printed hard copies; some maps and reports are on CD-ROM; and some may be available for download from this web site.
  • Bulletins are in-depth technical or non-technical publications on different aspects of Wyoming geology. Some out- of-print bulletins are available for download from this site or as CD-ROMs.

Our Mission
The Delaware Geological Survey's mission is, by statute, geologic and hydrologic research and exploration, and dissemination of information through publication and public service.
Goal Statement
The goal of the Delaware Geological Survey is to provide objective scientific geologic and hydrologic information, advice, and service to our stakeholders. This goal is accomplished by conducting geologic, hydrologic, and geologic hazard investigations and services and by continuing development of our infrastructure through basic data collection and computer-based data management and dissemination programs. The scientific information is used to advise, inform, and educate our stakeholders about the important roles that the earth sciences play in issues regarding water resources, public health, agriculture, economic development, land-use planning, environmental protection, geologic hazards, energy and mineral resources, and recreation.

Uzbek Vietnamese: Diagram Summary Wolof Earth's water is always in movement, and the water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. Since the water cycle is truly a "cycle," there is no beginning or end. Water can change states among liquid, vapor, and ice at various places in the water cycle, with these processes happening in the blink of an eye and over millions of years. Although the balance of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time, individual water molecules can come and go in a hurry. The water in the apple you ate yesterday may have fallen as rain half-way around the world last year or could have been used 100 million years ago by Mama Dinosaur to give her baby a bath.
