Important Dates to Note Microbial Genetics Project lab is a hands-on research course designed to introduce you to the strategies and challenges associated with microbiology research. In this course, you take on independent and original research projects. While these projects are designed to be instructive to you individually, each has the goal of advancing some specific field of research in microbiology. In this course, the teaching staff presents to you a series of questions that currently face the microbiology community. The instructors and teaching assistants then work with you to design a research strategy for answering these questions. Throughout the semester the staff coaches you through your work individually, helping you to design individual experiments, interpret your results, and to overcome technical challenges. Since communication is an especially important component of scientific research, this course also helps you to improve your written and oral communications skills. While research activities "at the bench" will occupy the bulk of your time in this course, you will also be responsible for making

If your child is on the story page, please let me know. We want to update the photos and stories. We will delete all that are on the stories page and start over. Please email us at webmaster@pierrerobin.org by November 1. Pierre Robin Network was formed in May of 1999 by the mother of a son with PRS. Our organization is made up of parents, relatives, caregivers, adults with PRS and professionals who have an interest in PRS. Our purpose is to network families and individuals with PRS and provide information to anyone who has an interest. Parents and caregivers do not need to feel alone, having a child with PRS can be overwhelming. There are many issues associated with PRS, which are unique to PRS. We do not give medical advice, we leave those issues up to you and your child's doctors. Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) is the name given to a combination of birth defects which usually include a small lower jaw, cleft palate and a tendency for the tongue to "ball up" in the back of the mouth. Many of these children have breathing and feeding problems early in their lives. Each child can be affected differently and will react different to different situations. We are here, as parents to educate, listen and help. Networking can help you accept the condition, learn about it, make your life and your child's life more comfortable. Our information comes from a variety of sources, but mostly our own experiences.

molecular genetics The human deoxyribonucleic acid base pair code in all cells specifies the characteristics of the individual, or their phenotype. In any one human chromosome there are two genes at equivalent loci, each coding for a polypeptide. This code is divided in gametes such that offspring only receive 50% of each parent's genetic constitution, that is, inheritance is particulate. The particle randomly selected is one of the two genes at each loci. The variable selection and segregation of genes into gametes ensures that the diversity of human characteristics is maintained. From these first principles, diseases can be classified into those resulting from defects in:
    • whole chromosomes, either in number or form individual genes lots of genes and/ or the environment: multifactorial

I've reset it, so everything should get through now. 8/22/05: Took new pics of some of the fish, since my change in method caused washed out colors for most of them. I'm also putting three DT white males for auction starting at $20 each. 7/05/05: I'm selling all the MG's I bought. I'm having absolutely no luck with them. I'll be selling them for $20 each. If you're interested in them before I get the pics, email me and save me the trouble of ripping my hair out. http://www.mutationchinchillas.com/
MCBA, Inc. is an international organization of chinchilla breeders with chapters and clubs spread throughout the world. Its function is to provide instruction on the humane care of chinchillas in their production and to help commercially market and promote all types of chinchilla pelts and products. To achieve these goals and purposes, research is carried on, market surveys are made, publicity is released, publicity funds are set up in preparation for the market, and a general orderly plan is followed.
Quality standards for all variations of chinchillas are set with emphasis on increasing and maintaining a high standard of excellence in the industry. Regularly scheduled seminars and show competitions with experienced judges are held to educate the breeders and compare their animals with others throughout the country.
Genetic articles and research is done to further information for chinchilla breeders and veterinarians to help maintain the health and well-being of our animals. A newsletter is published periodically to educate and guide our membership.
