Miguel Angel Torres
et al
Jeffery Dangl and colleagues report the first genetic evidence that reactive oxygen intermediates have a role in suppressing cell death in response to pathogenic infection in Arabidopsis . As reactive oxygen species have generally been assumed to promote cell death, this surprising result has implications for their role in other species as well. Prox1 and obesity
Article by Natasha Harvey
et al
Guillermo Oliver and colleagues show that inactivation of a single copy of in mice leads to defects in the lymphatic vasculature and adult-onset obesity. The obesity may be triggered by leakage of lymph into surrounding tissues, leading to increased adipocyte hypertrophy and adipogenesis.
