The Best Genealogy Site on the Internet:
The hands-down winner of the most comprehensive genealogy website is, of course (fanfare) : Maintained by Cyndi Howells, this is really quite a resource. As of 13 September 1998 she claimed "Over 30,650 links, categorized & cross-referenced, in over 90 categories," a figure that seems to grow by about a hundred a day! Anyway, you might as well start here because no other site comes close. It is marvelously organized and includes links related to archives, census records, ethnic groups, heraldry, humor, libraries, magazines & newsletters, museums, geographic areas, military records, newspapers, railroads, societies, travel, and on and on.

R.K. Owen Genealogy - Index
This is R.K.Owen 's genealogy, with respect to his direct line along with siblings of his direct ancestors. The purpose for this excercise is to have these names indexed so that anyone else searching for a common ancestor will contact R.K. Owen and, perhaps, extend his ancestral line. These lines are of most interest to me and any further information is appreciated. Here are the jumping off points for browsing the ancestral tree. Also the left and right yellow arrows have been overloaded to refer to the Persons and Surnames indexes respectively for easier browsing. The web pages were generated by using a modified unregistered version of by Eugene W. Stark. The current version is not available, but the earlier v2.4a Unix sources are available and formed the basis for this conversion. The GEDCOM file was produced by PAF 3.01M (the last DOS version). Newer M$ Windoze versions of PAF can be downloaded for free from http://www.familysearch.org/

Starting Genealogy
Searching for your ancestors must begin with what you know. Collect all the family documents you can and question your relatives: the older ones may know about letters, diaries, papers and dated photographs, while, if you are lucky, the Family Bible will have vital dates. They may be able to estimate ages and suggest locations, even if they cannot give exact details of births, marriages and deaths. Every fact and its source should be noted, as well as vague remarks which can prove unexpectedly useful at a later stage (such as 'that was before the war', 'she was grey at your aunt's wedding', 'I believe an elder brother lived on the south coast and went to Australia or New Zealand'). The further back you get, the more scanty such information will become in most if not all lines. Therefore, while you are visiting older members of the family (and recording what you learn about each relative on a dedicated family history computer software package or else use separate cards or pages of a loose-leaf notebook), it will be necessary for you to read about the next steps. Of the many books of advice, the following are suggested:, First steps in family history (Society of Genealogists, 2005); M Herber Ancestral Trails (Alan Sutton, 2005); The dictionary of genealogy T V H Fitzhugh, revised S Lumas, A C Black, London 1998). You may want to buy at least one of these, but may first like to borrow from a library (1ook at the end of the biography shelves).

    Brethren Groups
is a document that will acquaint you with a historical, non-theological outline of the several denominations using the word Brethren in their label, and hopefully give you an overview of how we all fit together. One common denominator which usually holds true for most Brethren groups is that each progenitive body originated in central Europe under the influence of Anabaptism or Pietism, during the Fifteenth to Eighteenth centuries. There are so many Christian denominations and sub-groups using the term Brethren, that questions frequently arise over their relationship with each other.
