Genealogy Research in Southern Italy
Introduction
There always comes a time in our lives when suddenly it becomes important to know where we come from. All those who contributed to our genetical map are in a certain sense still living inside ourselves, wherever their physical existence took place. It may seem exaggerating, but many personal questions can be answered with a bit of undigging in your family's past, in the history, behaviours, customs that your father and mother took along and left to you, and that you maybe unconsciously are transmitting to your children. There's a special thrill when you find something that seemed lost forever, and maybe would, if you had not cared: genealogy is the research of our roots, both genetical anc cultural. From the dusty, crumbling papers of documents people who belong to what you now are come out of the mist of time and look at you silently, affectionately, waiting for you to decipher their stories, rescue them from oblivion and pass their as yet forgotten names and stories on to the next generations. Cemetery and family lists, local history resources, genealogy links. Part of the INGenWeb Project.
    http://www.rootsweb.com/~inadams/
      Adams County, Indiana
Adams County is divided into twelve (12) Civil Townships : Blue Creek French Hartford Jefferson ... Wabash and Washington . Adams County was organized March 1, 1836. A large tract of land lying between Allen and Randolph counties had been previously called Adams County, however, no organization had been effected. Decatur is the County Seat. Samuel Johnson offered as an inducement to have the county seat located on his land, the sum of $3,100, four church lots, half an acre for a public square, one acre for a seminary and two acres for a cemetery. He further agreed to pay the expenses of the locating commissioners, and furnish a house to hold court in until suitable buildings could be erected. The county commissioners promptly accepted the offer "and proceeded to the aforesaid town site, and marked a white oak tree with blazes on four sides, on each of which they individually inscribed their names." Decatur was probably named in honor of Commodore Stephen Decatur and in 1849 it had seventy houses (three of which were brick, twenty-one frame and the remainder of logs) with a population of about 400. According to the Society of Indiana Pioneers, an individual was a pioneer of this county if they resided here on or before December 31, 1840.

    A Little History on Temiskaming
The recorded history of the area goes back to the early 1600's when both English and French fur traders were active in the area.
Fort Temiscamingue on Lake Temiskaming was established by the French in 1695. Missionaries and loggers were active on the lake as early as the 1830's, but the first permanent settlement was at the present town of Haileybury in 1885. Several townships were surveyed in 1887, and during the 1890's settler's, most from "Old Ontario" moved into the agriculture areas of the " Little Clay Belt" north of New Liskeard. Settlement was accelerated when the T&NO Railway arrived at Lake Temiskaming in 1904, but the railway also brought with it the discovery of silver at Cobalt, resulting in a mining boom, which in subsequent years spread to Elk Lake (1906), Gowganada and Larder Lake (1907) and in Kirkland Lake in 1911.
