91. A Guide To Genealogical Research At The Nebraska State Historical Society
Compile your family genealogy or complete pedigree charts; ROSTERS OF NEBRASKASOLDIERS IN THE CIVIL war, 18611865, were published in Andreas s 1882
http://www.nebraskahistory.org/lib-arch/services/refrence/la_pubs/guide1.htm
The Library/Archives Division of the Historical Society maintains a large collection of library, archival, and photographic materials that may be used in compiling family histories. These materials are available to all researchers in the Society's Reference Room at 1500 R Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. The resources described in this guide are those most commonly used by genealogists in their research. The Library/Archives holds many other documentary materials not listed here. Please contact us if you have questions concerning other resources. The staff of the Library/Archives will also answer mail requests for a fee, if the queries are clear and specific. The fee for this service is $10.00 per search for Nebraska residents and members of the Nebraska State Historical Society. For non-residents who are not members of the Society, the fee is $20.00 per search. Fees may change without prior notice. This fee must be paid in advance and requests should be limited to three searches or their equivalent. A second request for three searches may be sent after you receive a response to your first request. Examples that would constitute one search are: a search for a surname in indexed county histories for one county; a search for one family in a census; a search for one land owner in land tract records; or a search for one obituary. Please spend a few minutes reading this guide; it outlines many of the types of searches that we will conduct by mail. Each section in the guide describes a particular type of material available, the kinds of searches that staff can do for you in that type of material, and the information that you must provide in order for us to do a search in that specific record. Please do not assume that we will initiate searches for other records not specifically requested in your letter.

A Brief Introduction to Genealogy and the American Civil War
The American Civil War provided many documents which have information vital for those interested in family history. Many men born from 1825 to 1847 served in the armies, but many older men and some young boys also participated. In addition, draft reg istration provides records of others in that age group who did not serve.
