Sex-discrimination lawsuits are on the rise. Is your company at risk? From: Inc. Magazine, April 2005 Page 38 By: Jennifer Gill Photographs by: Ted Rice For large corporations, the news has been grim: Last July, Boeing agreed to pay as much as $72.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit by female employees. That same month, Morgan Stanley paid $54 million to settle a similar suit.

Sex-discrimination suits against small companies don't make headlines but they are just as common. In fact, nearly half of all sex-discrimination charges running the gamut from sexual harassment to gender-related firing filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last year were aimed at firms with 200 or fewer employees. And claims could surge in the years ahead as more women gain confidence from high-profile cases in the news, according to Cari Dominguez, chairperson of the EEOC. Many female baby boomers are entering their 50s and are "looking to leave a legacy," Dominguez says. "Women are taking on the role of whistleblower."

84. The Gender Tree
This site deals with the Biblical, historical ,cultural and physiological aspects of gender variance. Help for wives in understanding gender issues. Dealing with churches and other Christians.
http://www.gendertree.com
Why Gender Tree In our culture we tend to think in terms of a dichotomy when we think of gender, Female or Male. I was in a really boring meeting one day and realized I am as guilty of this sort of thinking, even thought I am “gender variant”. I realized we need a new model that was three dimensional, and visualized a tree with its almost infinite branchings. The body of Christ is divided all too often, because of our natural tendency to be uncomfortable with people who are different. This writing, and the pages that follow, are an attempt to both educate and challenge Christian believers to “Test everything, [and] hold on to the good” in obedience to 1 Thess. 5: 21 (NIV). To lay aside their learned reaction to such individuals, and take an honest look at the scriptures, and their own hearts.
I have dealt with guilt and shame and fear most of my life. My goal is to help those that are gender variant to understand that what you are, is not inherently wrong or sinful!
By the grace of God you are what you are.

88. Gay, Transgendered, Or Both?
A PFLAG brochure. What is the relationship between sexual orientation and gender identity? How does one determine if a child or teen is gay or transgendered? Do parents of gays need to understand transgender issues?

Is This Child Gay, Transgendered, or Both?
(this handout is on the web at http://www.critpath.org/pflag-talk/gid2.htm)
by Nancy Sharp, Co-chair
PFLAG Transgender Special Outreach Network
What is the relationship between sexual orientation and gender identity? How does one determine if a child or teen is gay or transgendered? Do parents of gays need to understand transgender issues? As an example, suppose that a 15 year old teenager attends a PFLAG support group meeting. The teenager is dressed in male attire, has adopted the mannerisms of a male, and uses a name which is androgynous and is different from the "female" name given at birth. The teen identifies as being lesbian. Afterwards, many at the support group say they were surprised that the teen was a lesbian because they thought she was a boy. Is this teen lesbian or transgendered? Is there a way for us to determine this? As another example, imagine that an 18 year old teenager attends a support group for gay and lesbian teens and reveals that he feels like a woman and wants to live as a woman and begin hormone therapy. The teenager "came out" to his parents as being gay when he was 12 and began getting harrassed from peers at school for being gay. From the time the child is 12 until he is 18 he thinks he is gay and identifies as being gay. No one in the support group indicates that they are concerned that the child may be transgendered and may benefit from receiving information about transsexualism.

"Prevention. Correction. Protection. Interfacet." Sexual harassment and discrimination claims at the workplace have dramatically increased in the last fifteen years across the United States. The financial stakes have also grown exponentially, with million dollar jury verdicts no longer a rarity. In our diverse and litigious world, more and more employers are recognizing the need to acknowledge, include and accommodate the increasing cultural, religious, racial, gender and other differences at the workplace. Failure to recognize and resolve potential problems may result in expensive, time-consuming, resource-intensive and morale-debilitating litigation. Interfacet provides you the tools to prevent and correct these problems.

Sexuality and Gender Issues
In its broadest sense sexuality describes the whole way a person expresses themselves as a sexual being. It describes how important sexual expression is in a person's life, how they choose to express that sexuality and any preference they may have towards the type of sexual partner they choose. Human sexuality does not fall into neat categories and if you are experiencing conflict or confusion about your sexual identity you may feel very isolated and misunderstood. Some people are certain about their sexuality from an early age others are not so sure. Being able to explore your own uncertainly without fear of judgment may enable you to make choices about how you live your live and the relationships you have. Family pressure, cultural norms and attitudes in society may lead you to hide your real feelings and leave you feeling that you don't fit in and have no one to talk to. Accepting that you are gay, lesbian or bisexual hopefully is easier nowadays than it was in the past however the decision to come out to yourself and to others can be scary and can be a period of upheaval and uncertainty. If you want to talk to someone about any of these issues a student counsellor can help you to explore your experiences and give you the opportunity to consider the barriers that prevent you from being open about your sexuality.

International Women's Day 2005 March 8th is International Women's Day, a special day devoted around the world to commemorating the positive contributions made by women. It is also a day to recall the constraints and obstacles women continue facing every day, whether sexual violence, abuse, or discrimination.
In line with this year's theme, Gender equality beyond 2005: building a more secure future, the Working Group on Gender Issues (WGGI) has chosen to focus more on what is positive, while not forgetting the negative. Accordingly, we have organized a five-pronged programme that includes ongoing negative facts but also illustrates what has been achieved by women working for a more secure future: whether as IOM staff members in emergencies or post-conflict situations or whether as individuals. The response from male and female colleagues, especially from the field, in the interactive 'If I had a magic wand...' activity has been tremendous.
We would like to share these various documents with all staff as we feel they will speak for themselves.
