A productive home garden requires the correct soil type, moisture, temperature, pest control, weed control and the correct fertilizer applications to be successful. If any one of these factors is not at the optimum, then the garden will under-perform. It is important to note that different plant species have different requirements, particularly when it comes to fertilizer applications Paton Fertilizers have been manufacturing fertilizers and providing advice to home gardeners and commercial growers since 1903. With specially designed tools, gardening is one hobby which arthritis sufferers can continue to enjoy. Top Arthritis-Friendly Garden Tools Ergonomic garden tools help you maintain your favorite outdoor hobby with ease and maximum joint protection. Pruner Preferences - Selecting Garden Pruners Gardeners can be very partisan when it comes to naming their favorite tool, but few will deny the absolute indispensability of a good pair of hand pruners. Pruning can tire the hardiest hands, but if you are already starting out at a disadvantage with carpal tunnel or arthritis, you should look into ergonomically designed models.

Gardening From Scratch Journal Mini Greenhouse and Seed Starting Projects How to Do It My Plant Stand Plan ... Contact Me Welcome to our gardening site! On this site, I'm going to talk about what we are doing to grow our garden. I'll give a bit of history on the projects we try, as well as some background on how we went about them. I will also include some instructions on how to do these projects, as well as any tips or tricks I've acquired through the years. And, of course, I'll include lots of pictures of the results of our work or of us enjoying ourselves doing it. Thanks for visiting, don't miss the other pages.
We started working on our yard in earnest in the summer of 1999. We added a screen room to the patio and started a perennial bed. Things started well but we lost the screen room when it collapsed in an early snowstorm in the winter of 2000. We replaced it in the summer of 2001 and are back on track. I don't think that we consider ourselves master gardeners, we just like things to look nice and we enjoy being outdoors in the nice weather.
This year we are starting our annuals and vegetables in a mini greenhouse that we have set up. We will be growing under flourescent lights starting around Valentines Day. Make sure to check the Projects page for details and updates.

    Gardening With Attitude
    By Mike Clark
Welcome To Mike Clark's Gardening With Attitude Column Mike Clark likes to write articles on all things Scottish and all things horticultural, and from time to time dips into the world of humorous fiction. At least, he likes to think it’s humorous. And it is an wee break from his day job as a self-employed gardener. Mike discovered the joys of horticulture when, as a small child, he overheard a neighbour say she’d dropped a sixpence in the tattie patch. He has been digging ever since, with the tenacity of a true Scot, hoping one day to find a fiver. He likes trees, Jack Russells, and 12 year old Glen Ord, but not necessarily in that order. Gifts of any of these can by sent c/o caithness.org, but he would like to point out that the third item is by far the easiest and cheapest to post. One of the highlights of his life was winning a toilet brush in a raffle. He persevered with it for ages, but he’s back on the paper now . . . Mike approaches gardening and writing with exactly the same formula. Throw in plenty of manure, and something good will eventually spring up.
