The forests of Gabon may rival those of South America. They house 8,000 plant species with an endemism rate possibly as high as 20%, and almost 200 mammal species and 600 bird species. Much of the traditional African culture has disappeared under the onslaught of oil money and French influence. Gabon is a haven of prosperity and stability in equatorial Africa. Gabon was discovered by the Portuguese in 1470 and began to attract French traders around 1840. It became a French colony in the second half of the nineteenth century, and integrated into French Equatorial Africa. Libreville is an industrialized city and is also the center of education for Gabon. It is the site of universities, libraries and research institutes. Lambaréné’s biggest attraction is the Albert Schweitzer Hospital about 8 km from town. Manganese mining centers are located in Moanda.

Gabon's long Atlantic seaboard offers some of the best deep-sea fishing in the world. The art and culture of Gabon is rich with a great number of ethnic groups. Masked and costumed dances accompanied by music and singing are the most important ritual ceremonies you will encounter.
A Growing Tourism Industry of Gabon, Africa
Tourism is still in its infancy and the restrictions caused by lack of infrastructure are the very reason for the lack of environmental damage . This is what makes Gabon so special! Visitors should not expect the same levels of service as in countries where tourism is well-developed. Modern facilities are not always available, so having an adventurous spirit, keeping an open mind, and being willing to exercise understanding and patience will ensure a wonderful visit.

One of the smallest, unspoilt Africa countries, The Gambia is situated on the beautiful West African coast midway between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator, on approximately the same latitude as Barbados. Mostly flat and shaped like a crooked finger, a narrow strip of land on either side of the majestic River Gambia from which it takes its name. The capital, Banjul, located on the south side of the river estuary is the administrative and commercial centre of the country and is of minor cultural and historic interest to tourists. The majority of tourist hotels are several miles away, spread out along the coastline of the peninsular which boasts 25 miles of uncrowned sandy beaches. Known as the smiling coast, The Gambia with its unsophisticated charm has much to offer all year round, sub-tropical climate, fascinating African culture, exotic gardens, miles of deserted beaches, nature reserves, quality hotels, craft markets, interesting excursions and some of the most friendly people on earth. The pace of life is slow and unhurried, perhaps frustratingly so, until you have had time to acclimatise. Home About Us Kruger Park Tours RSA Tours ... Links emarketing by quirk

The Gabonese Republic or Gabon , is a nation of west central Africa . It borders on Equatorial Guinea Cameroon Republic of the Congo and the Gulf of Guinea . Ruled by autocratic presidents since independence from France on August 17 , Gabon introduced a multiparty system and a new constitution in the early that allowed for a more transparent electoral process and for reforms of governmental institutions.
