My Guest Book Book Cover,
"How To Keep Up With The Joneses" December 1, 2004
Click here to Purchase your copy!
In approximately five weeks my first book, "How To Keep Up With The Joneses" will be off the press. The official release for Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com will be in January. Here is the cover. This will be a statement about the present greatness of America where anyone who wishes to do so can accomplish a dream. To my descendants I want to say that if they discipline themselves to giving back to their community as well as family, anything is possible. My childhood was during a time when there were muddy roads and sometimes poverty if the cattle had not sold. If there was drought, and whatever other conditions to hender our getting a complete education we still fought for that learning in whatever way we could. For the love I have for my own, let them know and be aware of what their ancestors endured. In this way hopefully, like the song our song writter, musician in the family, Chuck Dunlap, who won third in the Woody Guthrie contest at Stillwater, Oklahoma, 2004, sings: Take YOUR time
Take it Slow
Take a little or a lot
GIVE it EVERYTHING you got
'Cause life ain't fair

We mix the soap in small batches using the cold process method, then hand cut and cure each bar for mildness. Rich in skin softening glycerin, our homemade soap has a creamy lather that will turn any bath or shower into a treat. Absolutely no animal fats, products or testing, we make a pure vegetable soap ( from scratch, NOT melt and pour base) that's wonderful to use. It's interesting to know that most "soaps" you buy in the store are actually detergents, not soap. Detergent bars are made with petroleum products and most of the valuable glycerin is skimmed off and sold. Without the glycerin, skin often feels tight, dry or itchy after your bath. Think you're allergic to soap? You're probably sensitive to all of the chemicals in the detergent bar. Try a bar of natural soap and feel the difference.
Checks or money orders are also welcome!

30. Frugal Living In The UK - Cheap, Economical Recipes And Meals
Lots of cheap to make recipes healthy and suitable for vegans and vegetarians - low fat and wheat free items clearly marked.
http://www.frugal.org.uk/recipes.html
Frugal Living in the U K around the house days out finance make a few pounds ... recipes Any dish that you prepare yourself will cost a lot less than buying it ready made in a shop or restaurant - so really all home cooking is relatively frugal. The recipes listed below are exceptionally thrifty but still healthy (sacrificing your health is not frugal at all!) - no meal should be over £1 per person and most will be less. If you are using some of our shopping tips many of the main courses are under 50p per person and the soups and dips considerably less. The recipes listed all feed a family of four unless otherwise stated (you can of course, reduce or increase the quantities if needed). All recipes are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Those that are low fat are marked LF and wheat free dishes have WF by them.

31. Mom2MomList -  Resale Lists & More!
An online community for southeastern Michigan moms, focused around momto-mom resale events and frugal living.
http://www.mom2momlist.com/

About
Kids Korner Winter/Spring List Boards ... Subscribe to our free newsletter! So what IS Mom2MomList? Many things.......
We started out simply by providing a service of listing metro-Detroit area mom-to-mom resale events held by neighborhood churches, schools, and moms' clubs. At the time, there was about 20-30 sales each season. This year, we will help to advertise over 100 sales just in the spring sale season alone, and many more in the fall. You can find sale listings right here on our site, updated almost daily, or at any of the sales that we advertise on our " Pink Lists ". We have also grown into much more than an advertising service. We offer many new articles on a wide variety of topics, plus tips, quotes, recipes, and crafts every month for parents to enjoy with their children. And thanks to our wonderful members, we are very proud of the community of moms that have come together on our very active message boards. Our members buy & sell their items between sales, plan playdates together, enjoy moms' nights out, share advice and much-needed adult conversation, let off steam together, and so much more. We invite you to join us and become a part of our online family!

A Tightwad's Guide to Frugal Living Host Pat Veretto When I was a kid, my favorite daydream was finding an old house with no water, or electricity, or heat. I would walk the highway, finding fantastic amounts of popcans to cash in so I could fix it up. Later in life, I had the opportunity to put my dreams into practice. To my surprise, frugal living actually worked. Anyone can live better for less, and enjoy it all the while. Talk of the Nation If you'd like to hear an interview with Amy Dacyczyn (pronounced 'decision'), the queen of tightwaddery herself, a RealAudio interview is available. For those who may only have a passing knowledge of the 'frugal' or 'tightwad' movement, Amy was the founder of the popular 'Tightwad Gazette', which has, alas, been laid to rest. The enormous popularity of the newsletter contributed to its end; according to Amy...it simply got to be too much. The Unofficial Tightwad Gazette Fan Club Home Page Does Amy have a fan club? Maybe an unofficial one...at least thats what the site is called. The page focuses more on frugal living success stories rather than tips and ideas. It's a great place to go for inspiration, or to use a proof to convince someone else (or yourself)! Tight-wadding with Doris O'Connell The famous tightwadmama is online, too. The site includes the complete text of the Tightwad Frugal Newsletter for all issues. Look for such tantalizing pages as Homestead, Tightwad Homelife and Over the Garden Fence. Enough to keep you tightwadding for a long time!

I'm Richard Cannon (age 57 and a half) .After some 34 years of wearing a suit, shirt and tie in Advertsing, Marketing and Retail Management, the winter of 1999 / 2000 seemed to be dragging on for an eternity. I found much solace, comfort and an air of optimism from watching Hugh Fearnley Whittingshalls 'River Cottage' series on TV and reading such books as John Seymours 'Self Sufficiency' and Paul Heiney's 'Home Farm' . At that time I was working for Connex Rail as a Train Team Manager (looking after Train Conductors) at Hastings. I'd been doing the job for 9 years, but privatisation and 'new' style management systems made me become a Business Manager rather than a Man Mananger, which I certainly felt more suited to. Then one Sunday in March 2000, I suddenly decided that was it - I'd take the plunge, the gamble or whatever you want to call it and 'get out'. I'd had a couple of health blips in the preceding two years and felt this would give me a chance of an early retirement package.
I saw my Boss the next day and it was settled. In fact, she sent me home whilst the proceedings were being organised and I never went back again.

"I am a professional tax preparer and I always encourage my clients to keep a large manilla envelope near the door or wherever they open the mail and to put things in it all year long as they receive them. Then when tax time comes around, everything is there. I have used this technique at my house for years. We always have two envelopes because some things come in early in the year (charitable donations after the holidays) before the old one has everything in it.

Rural experience, advice and resources for frugal living.
http://members.tripod.com/~Crystal_J/CountryLife.html
"Off The Wall" ~ Country Life I've been asked what I do aside from research and genealogy, what I'm like as a person, and my interests... I spend a lot of time at my Uncles' cabin in Missouri. I've found total peace by being there and enjoying the simple things in life. The cabin is heated by a huge fireplace and the first "simple" thing I learned to appreciate was my gas furnace back home! (The wind chill factor on the river is 10 degrees colder than in town.) To appreciate my new love, you have to realize a few things... I am 5'4" weigh 100 lbs. soaking wet, and HATE cold weather with a passion! The cabin is built on a hillside, the back facing the river. It was built for Summer use only ~ or Eskimos that brought their own igloo. You walk into a cabin that has: 2 bedrooms and living room upstairs, a full basement with kitchen/bath downstairs and a MONSTER fireplace that eats wood like it's free. By the way, during the Winter months: (1) The water is shut off at the pump house. (2)The fireplace takes days to heat the walls enough to build up heat... during this, NO WATER can hit the pipes! You take every drop you use from the pump house, and heat it on the stove. The "used" water only runs on two feet, down the hill.
