French Literature The Department of French literature provides various lectures on modern French literature, literary theory and culture at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level in a friendly atmosphere. With regard to modern French literature modern novels, poems and original research on Valery are focused on. On contemporary thought, the correlation between psychoanalysis and literature is explored, which is theoretically based on the works of Freud and Lacan. Therefore, this is a Department where one can cultivate a wide range of appreciations ranging in scope from romantic writings to post-structuralism. In addition, as practical classes of French conversation, composition and reading comprehension are held by native speakers of French, students are expected to acquire synthetical knowledge with accuracy of expression.

GUIDES TO RESOURCES FOR CONDUCTING RESEARCH
French Language and Literature: An Annotated Bibliography
This is a very comprehensive and well-organized source which lists and describes resources used to study French literature and the French language, from bibliographies to studies (please note the date of publication, however). It is especially valuable because it attempts to provide guidance to Francophone literature outside of France: Europe, North America, South America, Latin America, Near East and Africa.( Mugar Reference X Z2175 A2 B39 1989

Research and Reference Guide to French Studies
Although slightly dated, this guide remains useful for both language and literary studies. It is also particularly helpful for research that is not strictly literary criticism: the "French Studies" aspect of the book permits references to themes, translations, influences outside of France, and backgrounds for literary movements. Terry Fox Runs
One person can make a difference. When Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope run across Canada on April 12, 1980 his goal was to raise $1 for every person in Canada for cancer research. That would have been about $24 million in 1980. The Terry Fox Foundation says that in the last 25 years more than $360 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name. Just yesterday, Ujjal Dosanjh, the Canadian federal Minister of Health, gave a $10-million grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada to the Terry Fox Foundation. And the marathon continues....
