LUCIFER, THE REBEL ANGEL
The great law of analogy is everywhere the master key of all spiritual mysteries, and, although Masonry and Catholicism do not begin till we arrive at the Earth Period, they have their prototype in the earlier Periods; we shall therefore briefly touch upon the essential facts. In the Saturn Period, the Earth-in-the-making was dark; HEAT, which is the manifestation of the ever invisible fire, was the only element then manifest; embryonic mankind was mineral-like, the only lower kingdom of evolving life. Unity was everywhere observable, and the Lords of Mind who were human then, were at one among themselves. In the Western Wisdom Teaching we speak of the highest Initiate of the Saturn Period as THE FATHER.

Part I - The Enlightenment

In the history of Atheism, no period is as complex and exciting as that time we know today as the Enlightenment. Cultural historians and philosophers consider this era to have spanned the eighteenth century, cresting during the French Revolution of 1789. It was a phenomenon which swept the western world, drowning in its wake many of the sclerotic and despotic institutions of l'ancien regime or old order, and helping to crystallize a new view of man and the roles of reason, nature, progress and religion.
And too, the Enlightenment was a feverish period of Atheistic thought and propaganda. Many of the leading philosophers of the time were Atheists or deists, opposed to the cultural and political hegemony long exercised by the Vatican and its shock troops, the Jesuits. Much of the political, social and literary activity of the Enlightenment was characterized by a repudiation of Christianity, and the formulation of doctrines calling for separation, if not outright abolition, of state and church.
While there are many currents to this period, one of the fascinating and little-explored backwater eddys of particular interest to Atheists and libertarians is the role of Masonic lodges and "secret societies" during this time. Surprisingly little objective historical work exists on this area. The drama of social revolution and intellectual apostacy was taking place not only in the streets of Paris, or the open fields of Lexington and Concord, but in countless lodges and sect gatherings and reading societies as well. These conclaves, with their metaphorical-hermetic secrets, symbolism and lore, were the crucibles of "impiety and anarchy" so bemoaned by church dogmatists of the time like the Jesuit Abbe Barruel. Of all of the clubs, societies, libraries, salons and lodges of this stormy time, perhaps none has been so villified, attacked and misunderstood as that group known as the Order of the Illuminati.

CUSTODI DI QUELLA FEDE
ENCYCLICAL OF POPE LEO XIII
ON FREEMASONRY To the Italian People. Deplorable Conditions in Italy Guardians of that faith to which the Christian nations owe their morality and civil redemption, We must dutifully discharge each one of Our supreme tasks. Therefore We must raise Our voice in loud protestations against the impious war which tries to take such a precious treasure away from you, beloved children. Already taught by long and sorrowful experience, you know well the terrible trials of this war, you who deplore it in your hearts as Catholics and as Italians. Can one be Italian in name and sentiment and not resent these continual offenses against divine beliefs? These beliefs are the most beautiful of our glories, for they gave to Italy its primacy over the other nations and to Rome the spiritual sceptre of the world. They likewise made the wonderful edifice of Christian civilization rise over the ruins of paganism and barbarism. Can we be Catholic in mind and heart and gaze with dry eyes on that land where our wondrous Redeemer deigned to establish the seat of His kingdom? Now We see His teachings attacked and His reverence outraged, His Church embattled and His Vicar opposed. So many souls redeemed by His blood are now lost, the choicest

By the time of the Haitian Revolution, there were already several Masonic lodges catering to French colonists. The idea of mystical fraternities also appealed to Haitians whose ancestors had developed their own secret societies in Africa. After Independence, they joined Masonic lodges in great numbers and freely used fraternal imagery in other sacred contexts. The all-seeing eye, pyramid, square and compass, skull and crossbones, pick, shovel, top hat, and other funereal symbols are especially prevalent in imagery evoking the Gedes and the Bawon Samdi. Traveling East brings Blue Lodge Masonry into the 21st Century. No longer will Young Masons not know what is expected of them, no longer will a young Mason not know how to bury a brother Mason. Through the years all the knowledge of Masonry was kept by the elders, they only told you what they wanted you to know, this kept you coming back for more, as Masons would say this kept you craving for more light. Traveling East explains it all, with very easy to learn terms, but no pictures, that is where the elders will come in. Traveling East has something for all Masons to learn, remember when you were told that you will never know it all well…Traveling East will get you real close to the real truth about that which was lost, and never found, or was there ever anything lost? Traveling East takes you back to where it all started.

Hands were laid upon ecclesiastical property, partly by absolute confiscation, and partly by charging it with

134. Freemasonry: Freemasonry For Men And Women
American CoMasonry is an ancient ritualistic fraternity which groups under its banner men and women, of every race, nationality, and religion.
http://www.co-masonry.org/
Freemasonry is an ancient fraternity which groups under its banners men of every race, of every nationality and of every religion. Wishing to do away with all cause for division and strife, Freemasons continually seek the means which will help all human beings to unite and become as one in the cause of the good of the whole. Masonic orders are divided into several rites which, though they may differ, spring from the same goal. That common goal is the reunion of Man with his Divine Source. American Co-Masonry is a Masonic order which works the Scottish Rite from the 1st through the 33rd Degree plus some Degrees of the York Rite. That which distinguishes the American Co-Masonic Order from other masonic workings is that, instead of admitting only men to its ranks, it admits women on an equal footing. It is sovereign and does not depend upon any foreign ruler ship or control. American Co-Masonry proclaims equal rights for both sexes and absolute freedom in the search for truth; the utmost tolerance is required of all members. It is organized as an unincorporated Fraternity. Its business affairs are handle by "The American Federation of Human Rights, Inc.", which is a Colorado non-profit corporation, with headquarters in Larkspur, Colorado.

Astro-theology The intention of this page is to reintroduce two esoteric masonic authors from Port Elizabeth to seekers of truth. George Munro (pseudonym) introduced me to Gerald Massey, while Bernard Laubscher introduced me to Godfrey Higgins and Rabbi Maimonides. One needs to question the reason for the Grand Lodge of South Africa for suppressing the genius of BJF Laubscher, surpassing Richard Carlile, author of the Manual of Freemasonry ca 1826, in knowledge, at least equaling that of dr James Anderson, author of the first masonic constitution in 1723 . Laubscher had the ability to target a wide audience in a single book, giving the initial impression of contradicting himself. This is unfortunately complicated by the still necessary requirement of keeping the masonic secrets private. Freemasonry and the Christian Church
Russ Wise
Freemasonry : Its Background and History
There are probably few subjects as shrouded in mystery and misunderstanding as that of Freemasonry. Known under a variety of names (the Craft, the Brotherhood, the Order, the Fraternal Order, the Lodge, etc.), Masonry has been aligned with both the Christian church and the occult. A major problem for many whether within the Order or without is the question of the Mason's ultimate allegiance. If, in fact, there is no appreciable theological difference between the church and Freemasonry, their antagonists have no basis on which to denounce them. However, if there are beliefs and practices in Masonry that are incompatible with biblical Christianity, then it becomes imperative for the non-Mason and Mason alike to understand the true teachings of the Lodge. The history of the Lodge is not easily discernable. Along with those who believe that Freemasonry had Christian beginnings are a growing number of Masonic authors who espouse an occultic origin for the Craft. There are those who indicate that the Craft was an outgrowth of the Ancient Mystery Schools or that it was first associated with the Druids or the Illuminati. In order for the individual to make a correct decision regarding Freemasonry, he must first understand the motivation of the author.

Freemasons
by Jim Walker
Originated: 26 Dec. 2004
The history of Freemasonry remains unclear and many historians debate its origins, but most scholars agree that however it began, it resulted in a revolt against orthodox religion. According to historian John J. Robinson, the Knights Templar, a religious sect, escaped arrest and torture by the Pope and formed a secret society of mutual protection that later formed into what later became known as Freemasonry.
In the 18th century, Freemasonry acted as a powerful force for religious freedom and practiced the concept of separation of religion and organization (perhaps the first organization to do so), and the precursor to separation of church and state. Although as one of the requirements for the membership of Freemasonry, one had to have a belief in a Supreme Being, it didn't matter to the organization what deity you believed in. A Christian, Jew, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, or a Deist could join Freemasonry.
A deist, by definition, does not believe in a personal god, but rather claims a belief in an initial creator of the universe (nature's god) but who after setting it into motion, abandoned it (or died) with no influence on natural phenomena or supernatural revelation. Many early Americans belonged to Freemasonry who claimed belief in a deist form of nature's god. This served as about as close to atheism as society would allow in early America.
