    62. Freemasonry
The Christian stand towards freemasonry. The political and social goal offreemasonry was and still is to free man from the tyranny of the Catholic
    http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/mason7.htm
    Freemasonry
The cult of liberty in the eighteenth century is intimately associated with Freemasonry. The political and social goal of Freemasonry was and still is to "free" man from the "tyranny" of the Catholic Church and from any civil authority which does not claim to be democratic. By definition, a church or a regime is tyrannical for the Freemason if it seeks to make dogmas or to rule without the consent of the governed. The motive for fighting World War I, at least according to the Allied propaganda of the time, was to "free" the world from "Czardom" and "Kaiserdom." Wilson said that the reason why we had to enter the war against Germany was in order to "make the world safe for democracy." One should not infer, however, from these comments that the regimes of the monarchies of nineteenth and early twentieth century Europe were by any means perfect. The Austrian Emperor, the Czar, and the Kaiser had all given the Church considerable difficulty, but certainly no more difficulty than the liberal, socialistic democracies of France and England. Italy too had persecuted the Church, and although then a monarchy like England, was nevertheless virtually democratic, its monarch very much in the hands of the Freemasons and other similar anti-catholic secret societies. It is merely to point out that Freemasonry has a hatred for any power, ecclesiastical or civil, which claims its authority from God, and which is not somehow dependent upon the people for its power.

    65. Thomas Paine's Origin Of Freemasonry
With commentary by Moncure Daniels Conway.
    http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/history/paine_t.html
British-American author of The Age of Reason, Common Sense, Rights of Man and Crisis, Thomas Paine has not been proven to have been a Freemason. A brilliant pamphleteer, his theory about the origins of Freemasonry is only of interest as an historical curiosity. HISTORY INDEX TRANSITION THEORY Thomas Paine's
Origin of Free-Masonry NOTE: This essay appeared in New York, 1818, with an anonymous preface of which I quote the opening paragraph: "This tract is a chapter belonging to the Third Part of the Age of Reason, as will be seen by the references made in it to preceding articles, as forming part of the same work. It was culled from the writings of Mr. Paine after his death, and published in a mutilated state by Mrs. Bonneville, his executrix. Passages having a reference to the Christian religion she erased, with a view no doubt of accommodating the work to the prejudices of bigotry. These, however, have been restored from the original manuscript, except a few lines which were rendered illegible." Madame Bonneville published this fragment in New York, 1810 (with the omissions I point out) as a pamphlet. — Dr. Robinet ( Danton - Emigre

    http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/anti-masonry/pentagram.html
O ne of the arguments used by anti-masons to support their claim that Freemasonry is satanic is to refer to the masonic use of the pentagram. The short answer to this accusation is that the pentagram is not mentioned in any masonic ritual or lecture and is not contained within the lessons or teachings of Freemasonry. True in essence, this response will not satisfy anti-masons who can point to the many books about Freemasonry that include the pentagram, or at least the five-pointed star, in their iconography, and the writings of such spurious, irregular or psuedomasonic authors as Count Cagliostro and Aleister Crowley . Although the pentagram, as a geometric figure, is of interest to freemasons since it is also a representation of the Golden Ratio , its esoteric significance is only of historical interest. Venus Baphomet ; and the celestial motions of Venus sketch a pentagram in the sky; it does not follow that the pentagram represents Lucifer or that Lucifer equates with the Baphomet. Or that any of this has anything to do with Freemasonry. ANTI-MASONRY REFUTED THE BAPHOMET EARLY PENTAGRAM EXAMPLES POST 19TH C. PENTAGRAM EXAMPLES

    70. How Freemasonry Corrupts Christianity
Describes how Masonry is blasphemous and leads Christians away from Jesus Christ.
    http://home.ptd.net/~magog/theology.htm
    How Freemasonry Corrupts Christianity
Freemasonry turns men away from Jesus Christ in at least 5 different ways:
  • Freemasonry purposely deletes the name of Jesus Christ from its prayers and scripture quotations.
  • Freemasonry requires Christian members to disobey Jesus Christ by officially forbidding all discussions of Christ from Lodge activities.
  • Freemasonry denies the deity of Jesus Christ(note: niether accepting nor denying is a "lukewarm" approach to the subject. This is UTTERLY REJECTED BY CHRIST in Revelation 3:15-16)
  • Freemasonry intentionally downplays the unique role of Jesus Christ as our Savior by teaching that the Christian proclamation of divine redemption is simply the revival of earlier pagan stories.
Freemasonry does all of these in their Order yet in the "Monitor of the Lodge: Monitorial Instructions in the Three Degrees of Symbolic Masonry"(Grand Lodge of Texas, 1982), p.10 says: "Freemasonry is far removed from all that is...ungodly."
Henry C. Clausen, "Clausen's Commentaries on Morals and Dogma"(The Supreme Council, 33rd Degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction of the U.S.A., 1976), p.159 says: "We do not say to Christians that Christ was a mere man, whose life story is only a revival of similar older[pagan] stories. To do any of these things would be irreverent. We utter no such words."

"The presence of a noble nature, generous in its wishes, ardent in its charity, changes the lights for us: we begin to see things again in their larger, quieter masses, and to believe that we too can be seen and judged in the wholeness of our character."
To explore the organization that some (very few, actually) so vehemently protest, we must first explain what Masonry IS! Here are some key points: Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest Fraternity . While its traditions look back to earliest history, Masonry in its current form appeared when its public events were noticed by the residents of London, England in 1717. Although Masonry - particularly in its earliest days - had some elements of secrecy, the first 'exposure' of the supposedly highly-secret Masonic ritual actually appeared in 1696! Since that time, there have been tens of thousands of books published about this 'secret organization'. And for over three hundred years, despite the good works done by its members, Freemasonry has continually suffered the slings and arrows of those who seek to use it's quiet nature against it. Freemasonry's singular purpose is to make good men better and its bonds of friendship, compassion and brotherly love have survived even the most divisive political, military and religious conflicts through the centuries. Freemasonry is neither a forum nor a place of worship. It is

    About this page

    Overview
There is no single universal definition of Masonry accepted by all Masons because the practice means different and sometimes contrary things to individual Masons. Masonry, for some of its members, has largely become a social club, while for others Masonry dominates their life and work as a religion they trust in for their salvation. This point is well stated by leading Masonic authority Henry Wilson Coil, in his A Comprehensive View of Freemasonry . Here he discusses the contradictory nature of Masonry:
Nobody knows what Freemasonry is, or, if that statement be deemed too strong, at least no one has been able to demonstrate that he knows the answer to the question. What one [Mason, or Masonic authority] asserts another of apparent equal ability doubts or denies.... Nor is this divergence of opinion due to ignorance or lack of investigation, for conflicts arise principally among the most zealous and erudite of Masonic students. The Fraternity has no central authority to declare its creed and no censor of books to check aberrations. Anyone, either within or without the Society, may speak of write about it what he wills, and many have taken advantage of that liberty.
