Outdoor Recreation El Mirage OHV Area California BLM Area El Mirage is an area administered by the Bureau of Land Management with cooperation from the state of California Parks and Recreation and a number of southern California counties. There is a perimeter fence in place to discourage trespass from the riding area into the community of El Mirage. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss this very important issue and the ongoing efforts of both agencies to address the needs of motorized access and other stakeholders to maximize the visitor experience while preserving and protecting these lands for the use and enjoyment of future generations. Background Increasing Expectations and Impacts on Local Communities The NPS has also experienced an increase. For example, in 1980, when there were 331 units administered by the NPS consisting of over 70 million acres, approximately 42 park units were categorized as recreational parks (national recreation areas, national seashores, etc.). Those units reported more than 96 million recreation visits. Twenty years later, in 2000, the National Park System had grown to over 78 million acres and recreational parks received approximately 104 million recreation visits. More recently, in 2004, while the total number of acres managed by the NPS increased only marginally, the total number of visits to this category of parks increased to almost 107 million.

Padre Island Administrative History CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION Location and Setting Padre Island National Seashore occupies the central 66 miles of the approximately 113-mile long Padre Island in South Texas. Stretching from just south of the Nueces County line on the north to the northern end of Willacy County on the south, the National Seashore includes portions of Kleberg, Kenedy, and Willacy Counties, with the majority of the park in Kenedy County. Padre Island is the longest natural barrier island along the Gulf of Mexico coastlines. The chain continues south to include Brazos Island at the mouth of the Rio Grande, separated by the Brazos Santiago Pass, and north to include Mustang Island, once separated by Corpus Christi Pass, and St. Joseph's, Matagorda, and Galveston Islands. Mansfield Channel, a shipping channel dredged across Padre to Port Mansfield in Willacy County, breaks the natural length of the island. Figure 2. Map of Padre Island National Seashore. SKIFORALL offers a variety of off-snow recreational activities and sports for children and adults with disabilities throughout the year. We encourage family members to join in the fun where appropriate. Activities are designed to include people with disabilities in typical Pacific Northwest outdoor activities and to promote education, independence, socialization, exposure to adaptive equipment and techniques, and, of course - to have lots of fun! Adaptive Cycling Hiking In-line Skating Water-Ski Sports ... Adaptive Cycling Enjoy a bike ride using your own cycle or ride one of our bikes, adaptive cycles or tandems. SKIFORALL has the nation's largest fleet of adaptive cycles - more than 40 at last count. Adaptive aspects include: handcycles for individuals with no or limited leg movement children's hand and foot powered cycles tandem cycles for individuals who need a guide while riding hand and foot cranked cycles exercising your whole body standard cycles Cyclists can ride any distance they choose during these rides, depending on their interest, strength and endurance. Rides are held at various locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce Counties. Routes are carefully chosen for their accessibility, facilities and low-to-no motorized traffic.
