Forestry Woodland Management Topics Woodland Management Courses Master Woodland Manager Program Native Woodland Restoration and Conservation ... Forestry Links Welcome! Trees and forests can enhance and enrich our lives in many ways. They provide aesthetic, monetary, recreational and spiritual values. Landowners in the Willamette Valley and foothills who tend woodland properties, rural residential homesites and even urban lots seek the benefits that trees, forests, plants and animals offer. The goal of our Extension Forestry program is to help landowners in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties better understand local woodlands and forests. We strive to provide education and tools to take care of forests and woodlands and to help meet landowner goals and objectives. Extension brings science-based educational programming to the counties and provides information on many aspects of forest science and natural resources management. Our programming activities include classes, workshops, field tours, demonstrations and research. We also provide educational materials through many topic-oriented publications and videos, as well as forestry-related articles in a periodic newsletter. Many of these resources are available through links on this site. Through our Extension faculty, staff and volunteers, and in collaboration with other organizations, we aim to meet the educational needs of a broad audience of woodland owners and managers of many sizes, as well as teachers, youth and the general public, loggers, Christmas tree growers and other forestry workers.

LOGGING AND FORESTRY
BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
Field Guide for Water Quality in Indiana Preface
Additionally, these guidelines consider worker safety, aesthetics, and forest productivity concerns. Logging has the greatest impact of the typical forestry activities. The use of best management practices (BMPs) by loggers, landowners and land managers offers the greatest potential to reduce NPS and reach water quality and other forest health goals. This online guidebook summarizes BMPs for logging and forestry practices. It's a guide for everyone involved in logging and forestry activities. Organization of this Guidebook
This guide does not contain all the specifics and background of each BMP. To do so would require many more pages. The BMP's contained in the guide are arranged to fall logically in the sequence of a logging operation and are followed by non-logging BMP's. See the Index for a list of topics.
