Step one is finding the opening. For some reason government agencies are notorious for changing their web site names and file locations. Consequently it is very difficult to keep these links current and accurate. If you cannot find a file, try "backing up" the address by dropping the file name and looking for the directory. Sometimes this will reveal the new location. Or you can't find the agency listing here, try Natural Resource Information Also, if you are looking to obtain a federal job you would benefit from visiting the most excellent site at The Resume Place before attempting to write your resume. Forestry in Tasmania
Background
As I mentioned before in Quantum Forest , I am very tired of the low quality of the debate surrounding the use of forests in Tasmania. Rather than only complaining or giving you propaganda , I decided to make available information that I think is useful to take part in an informed debate. I have a clear position with respect to many issues. In others I am still trying to understand and digest all the evidence so I can take one. Because of this, you will also find links to other sites with very different views that can help you to understand the complexities of the discussion. Some of them may present a fair view, while others will be absolutely misleading. statements for this site. I hope you enjoy your visit!

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA FIRST NATION FORESTRY PROGRAM EXTENDED OTTAWA (April 30, 2001) - The Government of Canada will continue supporting innovative First Nations forestry initiatives as Ralph Goodale, Minister of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), and Robert Nault, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), today announced the First Nation Forestry Program (FNFP) will be extended until March 31, 2002. The FNFP was established in 1996. “During the past five years, the FNFP has helped almost 4,000 First Nations workers gain valuable job experience. The skills they’ve learned have allowed them to create more business opportunities and strengthen their communities,” said Minister Goodale. “The program’s success shows that First Nations people and the Government of Canada are working toward the same goals — sustainable development, environmental preservation and economic growth.” “We said in the Speech from the Throne that the Government of Canada will work with First Nations people to build their entrepreneurial business skills,” said Minister Nault. “The FNFP demonstrates that we are making the social and economic investments needed to better First Nations’ communities and to enhance opportunities for First Nations people to benefit from natural resources development.” The Government of Canada will provide $4.5 million to support the FNFP over the next year. INAC will provide $2.75 million, and NRCan will provide $1.75 million. The extension of the FNFP is an interim measure while the Government of Canada develops an approach that encompasses a broader agenda for Aboriginal peoples.

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO THE FIRST NATIONS FORESTRY PROGRAM
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (March 14, 2003) - Innovative forestry initiatives in First Nations communities will continue to receive support from the Government of Canada. Robert D. Nault, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), and Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), today announced that the Government of Canada will renew the First Nations Forestry Program (FNFP) until March 31, 2008. "The FNFP has played a major role in creating economic development opportunities and encouraging First Nations to participate in the forest sector,"said Minister Nault. "This program has attained its objectives beyond all expectations, I am very pleased to announce its renewal, and it is our hope that this will provide long-term stability to the program." "During the past seven years, the FNFP has been a very successful Government-First Nations partnership," said Minister Dhaliwal. "With the renewal of this program, the Government of Canada can continue to help First Nations communities and workers gain valuable experience in managing our forests." The Government of Canada will contribute $6.5 million per year - $3.25 million from INAC and $3.25 million from NRCan - for the next five years to support the FNFP. This is an increase of $2 million per year from previous years.
