BSc Forestry
Do you want a career that is relevant, challenging and exciting? Do you want a career that makes a direct contribution to the environment? Do you want a career that directly benefits people? Then, why not think about a career in forestry. WHAT IS FORESTRY?
Forests are one of the most important terrestrial ecosystems on earth covering about one quarter of the land surface. Forests are diverse in nature, ranging from conifer-dominated cool temperate forests to tropical rain forests where the greatest species richness on earth can be found. Forests are vital to the future of our planet. Contrary to its 'logging' image, forestry is about the application of scientific skills and creative ideas to the management of this sustainable natural resource for a wide range of purposes, including the production of timber and other products, environmental protection, maintenance and enhancement of animal and plant habitats, and creating opportunities for recreation and rural development. Central to forestry is an understanding of the biology and ecology of forest ecosystems, and how humans interact with them.
WHAT DO I LEARN?
