Nigel's Webspace - Galleries of English Football Cards 1965/66 - 1979/80 Home page Email your comments to this email link FKS Publishers One of the two best known and best loved football sticker producers from the period. FKS managed to capture the imagination of many a young boy through bright stickers which could be glued into albums. All FKS stickers were sold in packets in newsagents, sweet shops etc. A number of the early stickers are rare now in VG condition, though many are available 'ex-album'. All FKS stickers were printed in Spain, though a number of the albums were printed in England. The Wonderful World of Soccer Stars. This rarest of all FKS football albums and stickers. The stickers are readily identifiable through the backs which have the player name and club, but no other printing including no number. The album has the same cover as the 1968/69 album, and many of the stickers have the same images as the 1968/69 set. The stickers do not indicate that they should only be stuck at the top, so most were stuck completely down in albums. There was no writing in the space for each sticker in the albums, so nothing much was lost except that you won't find many of these stickers 'ex-album'.

wind up playing, but classify him as a football player, and worry no more . However, regarding the specific case of a biography of a Trappist monk,
http://www.oclc.org/dewey/updates/tips/classification/whodidwhat.htm
Who Did What? Who Did What? I'm not sure how to interpret the "Division policies" section of the Manual entry T1092 Persons. The first paragraph there reads: It is the policy of the Decimal Classification Division to add T1092 even in cases when a person's work may not approximate the whole of the most specific available number. Conversely, T1092 is not added to extremely minute subjects, e.g., ball players are classed in the game they played, not in subordinate numbers for specific positions on the field, even if a player filled only one position. For example, I'm classifying a biography of a Trappist monk. Is it permissible to use T1092 in such a case? Generally speaking, the underlying problem in the case of biography is that the DDC contains many detailed numbers for subjects that are not necessarily useful occupational specialties. That is, you may know the biographee's field, but do not know the specialty (if any). Sports figures are a good example. The subject of a biography may be a famous third baseman, but he has probably played a number of other positions, and, of course, was also a batter. Football has more specialists, but only a few stick to one position for most of their professional lives. In the case of biographies of budding young athletes, you have no way of knowing what the lifetime specialty will turn out to be. Here the guideline advises you not to bother. If you have the first biography of a man who appears headed for football fame, make no bets as to what position he might wind up playing, but classify him as a football player, and worry no more.

I'm a bit uneasy about this page being called "History of Rugby Union ", as it appropriates the common history of both kinds of Rugby. I mean when the Northern Rugby Union broke away, the intention was not to create a totally different sport, it was simply to allow professionalism. So I think this page should be called "History of Rugby" or "History of Rugby Football". (Talk) 18:05, Jul 31, 2004 (UTC)
No, after the split the two carried on separately. We need to mention here stuff like South Africa and apartheid and the naughty tours, The stuff in the Sout of France with the Vichy government, how several players died during the war, etc. "History of Rugby" would also be bad as it would refer to the town. 22:15, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)

BIOGRAPHIES Quick links:- Home A Ba-Be Bi-Bz ... Wi-X-Y-Z As the name implies, this section is devoted to the people who make footy the unsurpassable game it is. Some of the biographical information in this section will also be found elsewhere on the site, but for convenience it has been collected together here, along with continually increasing amounts of additional information that are unique to this section. In keeping with the general tenor and thrust of the site, most of the biographies are of football's on field practitioners and overseers - players and coaches - rather than of those whose task it is to pull the strings - financial, administrative or otherwise - behind the scenes. Furthermore, given that Full Points Footy is essentially historical in its outlook, players and coaches whose careers are still in progress are not covered, and, indeed, I have made the express decision to concentrate, initially (although less and less exclusively), on individuals whose careers came to an end in excess of twenty years ago. (This is merely a pragmatic determination which hinges on the fact that there are so many players and coaches, from all eras of the game, whose achievements warrant scrutiny.) This is a rapidly expanding section of the site, so check back regularly if a player in whom you have a particular interest is not yet featured.
