Born:
14 August 1968 Where: Cleveland, Ohio, USA Awards: 1 Oscar, 1 Emmy, 1 Golden Globe Height: Filmography: Complete List
We just can't help it, can we? We all have an innate suspicion of models who become actors. We immediately feel that, otherwise talentless, they've been cast on their looks alone, that they have no real right to inhabit our screens. Whenever someone tries it, the jeers begin and those terrible four words are uttered: Cindy, Crawford, Fair and Game. Yet Halle Berry , a former model and, worse still, a Beauty Pageant winner, has risen above all that. Through a combination of the usual luck and, above all, hard work and persistence, she's made herself into a fine actress, an Emmy winner and the most welcome Oscar winner in recent years. And it has not been easy...
Halle Maria Berry was born on the 14th of August, 1968 (though some insist it was 1966), in Cleveland, Ohio. She was named after the town's Halle Building, which originally housed the Halle Brothers department store but is now an office block (it's also used in the Drew Carey Show). Her father, Jerome, an African American and a hospital attendant by trade, left when she was just four, so she and her elder sister Heidi were raised by their Caucasian, Liverpool-born mother, Judith, herself a nurse in a psychiatric ward. Jerome would return after four years but the violence he directed towards Judith and Heidi meant that he did not stay for long. Throughout her adult life, Halle Would have no contact with him at all, still being estranged when Jerome died in 2003.

Gerald R. Ford Biography
H0022-4 - Gerald Ford as student Madison Elementary School, ca. 1923. (Full size image is 55K) Gerald Rudolph Ford, the 38th President of the United States, was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr., the son of Leslie Lynch King and Dorothy Ayer Gardner King, on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska. His parents separated two weeks after his birth and his mother took him to Grand Rapids, Michigan to live with her parents. On February 1, 1916, approximately two years after her divorce was final, Dorothy King married Gerald R. Ford, a Grand Rapids paint salesman. The Fords began calling her son Gerald R. Ford, Jr., although his name was not legally changed until December 3, 1935. He had known since he was thirteen years old that Gerald Ford, Sr., was not his biological father, but it was not until 1930 when Leslie King made an unexpected stop in Grand Rapids that he had a chance meeting with this biological father. The future president grew up in a close-knit family which included three younger half-brothers, Thomas, Richard, and James. Ford attended South High School in Grand Rapids, where he excelled scholastically and athletically, being named to the honor society and the "All-City" and "All-State" football teams. He was also active in scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in November 1927. He earned spending money by working in the family paint business and at a local restaurant.

Berkeley, California, USA
This dark-haired, buffed actor first appeared in front of the cameras as a young tyke visiting Mayan ruins in the 1980 PBS production "The Voyage of the Mimi". The pre-teen Ben Affleck first won notice as Madeline Kahn's son who is trying to find a suitable husband for his mother in "Wanted: The Perfect Guy", a 1986 "ABC Afterschool Special". He appeared in the 1987 miniseries "Hands of a Stranger" (NBC), was Patrick Duffy's son in "Danielle Steel's 'Daddy'" (NBC, 1991), and, in his first series, was a strapping football-player in "Against the Grain" (NBC, 1993). Affleck also starred in the 1994 HBO "Lifestories: Families in Crisis" installment, "Body to Die For: The Aaron Henry Story" about a teen whose life is imperiled when he becomes addicted to steroids.
On the big screen, Affleck began his career generally playing the heavy in features ranging from "School Ties" (1992), in which he was one of the football-playing anti-Semitic gang, to Richard Linklater's "Dazed and Confused" (1993), where he was a high school senior terrorizing freshman students on the last day of school. He went on to begin an association with filmmaker Kevin Smith appearing in the ensemble of "Mallrats" (1995) and enjoyed a breakthrough as a comic book artist who falls in love with a lesbian in Smith's subsequent "Chasing Amy" (1997). That same year, he displayed a more sensitive side as a Korean War veteran with artistic aspirations in "Going All the Way".

Otto Everett Graham, Jr. As a scholarship basketball player, "Automatic" Otto was the second leading Big Ten scorer as a junior, Wildcat captain and MVP his senior year, and was named MVP in the College All-Star upset of the reigning NBA champion Washington Bears. Named Big Ten football and basketball MVP in the same scholastic year, Otto's bunting ability also gave him one of NU's highest batting averages and 8 varsity letters before graduating early. Few athletes have ever been All-American in Football and Basketball yet Otto managed the task in back-to-back seasons. Starting his second rookie season of '46, Otto retired from basketball to join the Cleveland Browns who proceeded to stun the football establishment by winning the AAFC Championship. Otto became the only athlete ever to win World Championships in different sports and accomplished the feat, again, in back to back seasons. The Browns dominated the AAFC in '46, again in '47, went undefeated in '48, and shattered existing attendance records, including those of the reigning NFL, in winning their fourth title in '49. Otto was the MVP of the AAFC in all but one year. The Brown's dominance eventually led to the league's demise; ending any hopes of a super game between the AAFC and NFL. In 1950, the Browns, 49ers, and Colts were absorbed into the NFL. Commissioner Bert Bell, intent on teaching the upstarts a lesson, scheduled their regular season debut against two time World Champion Philadelphia. Otto's first pass in the NFL was a touchdown as the Browns stunned the Eagles. The Browns lost two games on their way to a 30-28 Championship victory over the Los Angeles Rams, the team which had defected from Cleveland after winning the '45 title. Lou "The Toe" Groza kicked the game winning field goal giving the Brown's their first NFL title and Otto his first big league MVP.

Bulky, doughy-faced supporting actor and occasional leading man, a veteran of nearly 200 films, who usually portrayed coarse, vulgar men of limited intelligence (on either side of the law). JOHNNY LUJACK
First of many great Pennsylvania quarterbacks Johnny Lujack was one of the great T-formation quarterbacks, led Notre Dame to three National Championships, won the Heisman Trophy and AP male athlete of the year, and was a top player for the Chicago Bears. Lujack was born in Connellsville , Pennsylvania, on January 4, 1925. He starred in in several sports for Connellsville High School, including quarterbacking the football team. He was nearly the first person from Connellsville to get appointed to West Point Military Academy , but turned it down when he was offered a scholarship to Notre Dame , a long time dream of his. In his sophomore year at Notre Dame, he took over at quarterback when Heisman Trophy winner Angelo Bertelli joined the Marines, won his first start with a 26-0 win over a powerhouse Army team, and eventually his first national championship. He also played halfback, defensive back, kicked extra points, and punted. Even in the era of two-way players, that was a lot. But then, he also lettered in four sports (football, basketball, baseball and track), one of just a few Notre Dame students to ever do that. He left Notre Dame to serve nearly three year in the

Davison graduated from West Point in 1939 and was commissioned in the Cavalry. His first tour of duty took him to Ft. Brown, TX, with the 12th Cavalry Regiment. Within two years of graduation, he commanded Troop A of the 12th Cavalry, and a year later, as a captain, he was appointed Executive Officer and later Commander of the 1st Squadron, 12th Cavalry, assignments that were to prepare him well for the larger crucible of the European war. Michael Davison reported to the Operations Division, War Department General Staff Theater Group, in January 1943. Two months later he was reassigned to the 45th Infantry Division in North Africa as Assistant G-2 (Intelligence). During the next year, the then Major Davison served with the 45th Division in Sicily and Italy in some of the most intense and bitter fighting of the war.
