The first edition of the Greek Folk Dance Resource Manual was first written in 1991 in an attempt by the author, Charlie Kyriacou ( Charlie's Photobiography - 34 photos, takes a few minutes to download ), to share information with Greek folk dance directors and enthusiasts concerning Greek folk dance, music, folklore and costumes. Since information and people's address and phone numbers change quickly, the manual is continually updated. The ninth edition was completed in October 2000. This web page also presents price lists from different Greek folklore organizations, articles written by the manual author and other educational aids relevant to the understanding of Greek folk dance. Charlie works for NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL) and was the Parts Program Manager for the Mars Rovers and the Task Manager of the Receiver/Transmitter Unit for the Cassini Spacecraft that arrived at Saturn in June. Charlie was recently appointed the Parts Program Manager for the multi-billion dollar Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter , NASA's biggest space project in its history.

Mainly perform dances from Serbia, Bosnia and Macedonia. About their repertoire and history. Contact information.
    http://folk.uio.no/knutar/kolo/eng/
Kolo was started in 1984, and the ensemble consists of eight male and eight female dancers.
Kolo's dances are mainly dances from the regions Serbia, Bosnia and Macedonia. The repertoire is varied: Gypsy dances, suites and even a dance with ritual content, where the women's coin vests provide the rhythm. The Kolo dancers try their best to interpret the multiplicity of folk dancing: Originality, commitment and the delight of dancing. The costumes are colourful and exciting. Over the last few years Kolo has given several performances in Oslo, Bergen and Copenhagen. During the 1980s Kolo appeared on Norwegian television twice, and in 1992 the ensemble participated in a television music show. In 1994 Kolo celebrated its tenth anniversary with a performance at the Cosmopolite in Oslo.

    WHO ARE WE?
The International Folk Dancers of Ottawa , established in the early 1970s, is a non-profit group for the support and preservation of recreational folk dancing in the Ottawa-Hull area. It sponsors events for local folk dancers and the community at large, and stays in touch with other folk dancing groups and their events nationally and internationally. WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCING? It is the traditional dances of many countries and cultures, from circle dances to line dances to couple dances. It is a chance to enjoy the music, rhythms and dances of countries from around the world. It is a few hours a week of fun for people of all ages. HOW DO YOU LEARN THE DANCES? No previous experience necessary! Dances are usually taught by local teachers, while guest instructors teach at workshops from time to time throughout the year. WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR ME? It will mean new friends, good exercise and a challenge for feet and mind alike. It could mean travel to workshops in other cities or countries. It could mean a new interest in music or costume. It will mean an introduction to a whole network of dance. International folk dancing provides the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. While travelling, our members join in dancing with

    97. WSU Pullman International Folk Dance
dancing for fun to a large selection of recorded music from various countries around the world.
    http://community.palouse.net/folk/
The WSU Pullman International Folk Dancers meet each Friday night in room 115 of Smith Gym on the WSU campus while WSU is in session. We set up at 7:00 p.m. Dancing starts at 7:30 PM and usually continues until 10:00 PM. See also "coming events", particularly for summer hours and meeting places. We are a group of people that meet together to dance for fun. We have a large selection of recorded music from various countries around the world. On a typical Friday night we will have a mixture of line dances, circle dances, and couple dances. Dance partners are welcome, but not necessary. A few dances are usually taught at the beginning of the evening. Both the instruction and the dancing are free. (See also coming events.) We do have an optional membership with dues. Money collected helps with the purchase of music and equipment.
Occasionally, a voluntary subset of our group will agree to give a performance. We are something of a social group and some of us take part in special folk dance events and other activities.
