Home Page
EXCEPT-2
is a Country / Folk / Bluegrass / Cajun band from Delft in Holland
(the Netherlands).
The band has 7 members , including two ladies ( EXCEPT-2 On February 24, 1995 EXCEPT-2 started their history when the two acoustic playing bands,
Country Stuff " and " Country Target " formed the new band EXCEPT-2 Country Stuff " was originally a bluegrass oriented band; with instruments as guitar,
banjo, mandolin, violin and bass. Country Target " specialized in harmony vocals, with Mireille as the lead-vocal,
supported by acoustic guitar and dobro. It is evident that the "result" of such a "marriage" will be "acoustic sounds",
with bluegrass elements and close-harmony vocals.
This provides a wide range of music styles and with Cajun music
as the most recent addition. So EXCEPT-2 boasts the luxurious possession of a female lead-vocalist ( Mireille
and a male lead-vocalist ( Ruud ), which extends the variation in songs by more than a factor 2 ! The first CD " EXCEPTIONAL " was released in autumn 1997 and sold-out within one year !

David Mallett
David Mallett hails from a small town in northern Maine, and in a career that spans four decades, his music has traveled to all corners of the world. His songs have been recorded by more than 150 artists, including Pete Seeger, Alison Krauss, John Denver, Emmylou Harris, and even the Muppets, and his "Inch by inch, row by row…" "Garden Song" has become an American folk classic. The Bangor Daily News recognized him in 2000 as one of the 58 most memorable Mainers of the 20th Century, and the Orlando Sentinel recently wrote, "What Garrison Keillor is to Minnesota, Mallett is to Maine". He has performed throughout America and Europe, has 11 albums to his credit, and has published two books.
"Mallett is a first-rate folk singer and writer. His portraits are camera sharp, and his knowledge of his subjects is profound." BILLBOARD

Northern Lights
Northern Lights, the Northeast's superlative veteran string band, doesn't qualify as typical traditionalist. But over a career closing in on three decades, it has created its own tradition - a constant exploration of new musical territory without ever losing its acoustic and vocal bearings. From 1990's "Take You to the Sky," to 2005's "New Moon" (Fifty-Fifty Music), the band has fused an eclectic mix of traditional roots music, rock, country, soul and gospel with the high, lonesome vocal sound and instruments of bluegrass. The band double bills with renowned artists such as Jonathan Edwards, including sets together, and Vassar Clements occasionally joins them on fiddle.
