How to Order TRANSVERSE BAMBOO FLUTES The bamboo flute is one of the oldest and simplest musical instruments in the world. Our bamboo flutes are made with care and quality to fit your most every musical need.
Most cultures of the world have some type of transverse flute (which simply means a flute blown across, a side-blown flute.) Because bamboo grows in most tropical and temperate climates of the world, many cultures use bamboo flutes as their primary wind instrument. Their ease and playability make them a natural choice for many looking to enter the musical arena, while their richness of tone and great flexibility make them an excellent selection for the experienced musician as well (see professional quality flutes below.) These instruments are well-tuned to major keys with a quartz tuner. They are fully chromatic (play all sharps and flats), with a minimum 1-2 octave range. They have an individually colored burnt-tone, lacquer finish, and come with warranty, instructions, and songbook. Flutebags are available for the best care and preservation of your instruments.

As a musician, your job is to make the music come alive. At Emerson, it's our job to provide dependable instruments with superb sound quality and intonation. Our complete line of flutes and piccolos is designed with exquisite care, then painstakingly crafted of the finest materials. As artisans, flutists and educators, we craft instruments that suit your musical demands. A line that students can grow through. When you hold an Emerson flute, you're holding an American made hand-assembled, hand-finished work of art.
    About Us
Working closely with key European makers and soloists, Emerson Deford developed a scale and headjoints with a clearly defined Emerson sound. This sound has since become highly desired by the finest flute instructors for their students.
Nearing retirement, Mr. Deford handed stewardship of the company to Steinway Musical Instruments in 1997. Emerson Flutes continued their development through the introduction of new instruments and innovations, and establishing a quality level which surpasses most players' expectations for intermediate and student flutes. Advanced headjoint designs include Sterling silver lip plates and risers on student flutes and specially cut embouchure hole designs. These, along with the many custom options available, make Emerson flutes the obvious choice in premium advanced student and entry level flutes.
