Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission
Friends
The goal is to lead man from manhood to Godhood. I invite you to kindly participate in this noble task and to pave the way for creation of a platform of learning to fulfill the dream of the great patriot saint Swami Vivekananda.
The world's scenario indicates a definite rise of intolerance and violence, chaos and conflict in almost all spheres of life. The time has come when we should remember the concluding remarks of Swami Vivekananda's lecture delivered at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago, United States of America in 1893 - Help and not fight, assimilation and not destruction, harmony and peace and not dissention.
It is primarily for this purpose the Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission has conceived the idea of establishing a University in the name of Swami Vivekananda to impart value based education - basic values that remain eternal in the changing society just to bring back the whole world in its spiritual orbit paving way for the entire Humanity to march ahead towards divinity.

When the oil tanker Prestige sunk off the Galician coast, teams of experts were called in to assess the devastation. Among them were specialists who understood how to assess the economic consequences of the damage to local fisheries, as well as those who could help with the massive clean-up operation. Marine resource damage assessment, as it is known, is one of the key skills students develop on the Portsmouth University MSc/PgD in Fisheries Planning and Development. The economic cost of pollution to fisheries is an ongoing area of research in the university's Centre for the Economics and Management of Aquatic Resources (CEMARE).

The University of Iceland ( www.hi.is ) is a state university founded in 1911. It provides places for some 6.700 students studying in nine faculties. In addition to the major faculties there are numerous research institutes attached to the University. With 400 tenured teachers, some 1.200 non-tenured teachers, and about 300 researchers and administrators the University of Iceland is the largest single work-place in the country. The University of Iceland offers opportunities for study and research in more than 50 degree programmes, at Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate levels. Fishing and fisheries play a key role in the economy of Iceland. This fact is reflected in the number of research programmes and projects conducted at the University of Iceland, relating to marine biology and oceanography, fishing and fisheries engineering and technology, fisheries economy and management, internationational laws and conventions, and the sociology of fishing communities both on land and at sea.
