Adventure flats fishing! "Number of bones per day - I'd say three or four, perhaps more for a more experienced angler. One reason there won't be 30-bonefish days is that these bones are generally pretty large. The smallest bone I've caught on the flats was around 5 pounds, the largest around 11 pounds, with the average around 6 to 7 pounds. I've seen both smaller and larger fish, but I think the range I've given is pretty accurate."

Saturday, September 17th - Seacoast Science Center - Rye, NH Time is running out to make reservations to this years BBQ. This year's event promises to be the best ever with the addition of a casting contest and fly tying lessons and demonstrations. Last year was the first time that we held the event at the Seacoast Science Center and it was a huge success. The Center is a great place for a family event with activities for all ages and great access to some potentially good fishing in the area. Complete details were posted in last month's newsletter. Remember, you MUST register yourself and family members in advance if you plan on attending. We need to have an accurate head count to insure that we have enough food to go around. Registrations must be made be calling Steve Murphy at 978-463-1793 or by email: svmurphy@comcast.net by Sept 12.
UPDATE: The BBQ is still on, despite the weather. Fishing will be out of the question due to Ophelia, so the start time has been moved until 10AM. We will be meeting inside the main building and will still have fly tying demonstrations, etc. Don't forget to bring some appetizers, a salad, dessert, etc.. see you there!
DIRECTIONS: You can fish your way up Rte 1A along the coast until you arrive at the Center or you can drive directly there and fish from the grounds. From the Portsmouth Traffic Circle take Rte 1 By-Pass South to Beaches/Hampton. After 1 mile the road connects with Rte 1 south. Follow Rte 1 south approx 1 mi to the traffic light. Elwyn Rd will be on the left. Turn L onto Elwyn Rd, go past the Urban Forestry Center (on the left), then go approx 1.3 miles to the stop sign at Foyes Corner. Go straight at the stop sign onto Rte 1A south. Continue for 1.8 miles, over the wooden bridge, past Odiorne boat launching ramp (on left), to the main entrance of Odiorne Point State Park (on left).
