Stop motion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
(Redirected from Stop-motion animation Stop motion is an animation technique which makes static objects appear to be moving. It is central to the claymation technique used on popular children's shows such as Gumby and to the puppet-based animation of such well-known films as (Tim Burton's) The Nightmare Before Christmas Henry Selick Chicken Run DreamWorks ... Aardman Animations , 2000) and Corpse Bride Tim Burton Stop motion requires a camera, either motion picture or digital, that can expose single frames . It works by shooting a single frame, stopping the camera to move the object a little bit, and then shooting another frame. When the film runs continuously for more than 15 frames per second, the illusion of fluid motion is created and the objects appear to move by themselves. This is similar to the animation of cartoons, but with real objects instead of drawings.

art ... Help Like this page? Send it to a friend! Blast Film - Filmmaking: Part I Filmmaking: Part I: What's involved? What's involved in making a film? It can be as simple or as complex as you want. Anybody who enjoys the cinema knows that when the final credits roll they include everyone who has contributed - Director, Performers, Best Boy, Gaffer, Foley Artist, Stunt Supervisor, Make Up, etc. It usually takes over a hundred people working a year to make a feature film, ten people to produce a pop promo and around twenty to film a documentary. The reason so many people are involved is because films need to be made quickly and on budget. Many famous directors started by making films completely on their own - Orson Welles, George Lucas, Robert Rodrigues. You may not have the special effects and big budgets of Hollywood but you do have time on your side. Use it to experiment and make a few mistakes. It's the way to learn. And that's where the fun begins. Go on; make a film. Where to start
  • Open your eyes and ears to everything. Look at TV, films, games, the Internet, books, theatre and dance. Listen to your friends speaking, see how your relatives behave. Watch the trees in the breeze.

Movie Making Manual-Animation
From Wikibooks
This Module is part of the Movie Making Manual Animation is the process of creating moving images from a series of still images. In film making, this can be used to create a shot or sequence that cannot be shot on camera. There are many techniques that can be used, including drawings, photos (pixelation), 3D (model or puppet), and 2D and 3D computer animation. Animations can be produced on film or as a movie file or still image sequence. Still images - created at high resolution and uncompressed (or with lossless compresion) are often prefered as they give flexibilty and high image quality. In an NLE (Non Linear Editor) a still image sequence can usually be imported as a group, and edited into the film, with the option of adjusting the indivdual frames. In modern film making, 3D computer animation (CGI) is most often used as it can come close to matching the look of the rest of the film, while offering great flexibility. Animation is by nature a slow and highly skilled process, but the tools are readily available, for example there are low cost or free trial versions of many animation software packages(expect a steep learning curve). in 1989 so went to Newport Film School to study animation craft. I made 2 16mm films there, helped on everything I could and got a distinction. Then I spent a few years making animated title sequences for TV before going to the National Film and TV School in 1994. For me the Film School was an island on which I could explore ideas and develop my film making ability. This was important, as outside the School there are opportunities to develop the commercially fruitful skills necessary to earn a living, but little opportunity to develop ideas and establish them in a unique film making style. By entrusting me with a budget to try something new, I had a rare opportunity to prove my ability in a specific area of film, and so inspiring interest in people from audiences to producers.
I made 2 35mm films and 1 16mm film. I went to Yekaterinburg , Russia to make my graduation film, in the studios where Alexanda Petrov worked. I learned a huge amount from the people there particularly my Art Director Andre Zolotuchin.
