Love Named Preseason All-ECACHL, Bulldogs Tabbed for 4th in Coaches' Poll

Goaltender Sarah Love (Bayfield, Ont.) was named to the preseason All-ECACHL team and Yale was picked for 4th in the coaches' poll at the league's annual Media Day Tuesday. With 68 points in the poll, the Bulldogs trailed St. Lawrence (97 points, 8 first-place votes), Dartmouth (84, 1) and Harvard (81, 2). The league also released its media poll, in which Yale was picked for 6th. ( more
~ Football Bulldogs Open Ivy Campaign by Hosting Cornell Saturday The Bulldogs, smarting from an upset loss to San Diego a week ago during a coast-to-coast weekend, look to rebound from the bad start by taking their Ivy League opener at home. Yale (0-1) hosts Cornell (1-0) in a 1 p.m. game at Yale Bowl this Saturday.     Fax: 540.432.4443 Brenda Bechler, Head Coach (3nd Season - EMU '95) The 2005 season will be the third for Brenda Bechler at the helm of the EMU field hockey program. The 2003 squad went 17-4 overall, winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship and advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time in three years. She was named ODAC Co-Coach of the Year for the team's accomplishments. In 2004, the Lady Royals went 6-11 overall and 6-3 in the ODAC. Brenda (Kratz) Bechler played four years of field hockey at Eastern Mennonite University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education, becoming certified to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade. Bechler spent four years associated with EMU athletics before taking over the field hockey program. She served four years as assistant field hockey coach, during which time the Lady Royals won four conference championships and advanced to the national tournament, including one third-place national finish. She also spent one year as head softball coach at Eastern Mennonite High School and two years as head softball coach at EMU. In all of her coaching experience, Bechler has enjoyed the opportunity to teach players how to advance their skill level in a sport that they love. She hope to be a positive role model for her athletes on and off the field. Her coaching motto for her players is, "When you want what you've never had, you must do what you've never done."
