The Colorado Supreme Court Library is an offspring of the Territorial Library founded in 1861 and was formally established by the General Assembly in 1874 to serve the Colorado Supreme Court. The appellate judiciary we serve today includes not only the Supreme Court but the Colorado Court of Appeals as well. The library also serves the state's district and county courts, numerous state agencies and is open to the public.
Collection
The Colorado Supreme Court Library holds all fifty state statutes and session laws, all regional reporters, pre-regional reports, the federal statutes, federal regulations and all federal reporters. Some highlights of the collection include Colorado statutes and cases from the territorial period forward, numerous Colorado municipal codes and Colorado legal treatises and directories. The library is also a depository for State Justice Institute publications as well as a repository for the Colorado Women's Bar Association collection. Since 1978 the library has been a partial federal depository focusing on materials such as federal administrative agency decisions, presidential documents, and items offered by various federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Transportation and the Census Bureau.

THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT As a public service, the staff of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has prepared the following complete text of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Although staff generally followed the format of the U.S. Code as published by the Government Printing Office, the format of this text does differ in minor ways from the Code (and from West's U.S. Code Annotated). For example, this version uses FCRA section numbers (§§ 601-625) in the headings. (The relevant U.S. Code citation is included with each section heading and each reference to the FCRA in the text.) This version of the FCRA is complete as of January 7, 2002. It includes the amendments to the FCRA set forth in the Consumer Credit Reporting Reform Act of 1996 (Public Law 104-208, the Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 1997, Title II, Subtitle D, Chapter 1), Section 311 of the Intelligence Authorization for Fiscal Year 1998 (Public Law 105-107), the Consumer Reporting Employment Clarification Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-347), Section 506 of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (Public Law 106-102), and Sections 358(g) and 505(c) of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (USA PATRIOT Act) (Public Law 107-56). INTRODUCTION
Statutes Regulations Court Cases Opinions The WOMEN'S RIGHTS Handbook is intended to provide the general public with a basic understanding of the rights of women in California. This handbook describes both California and federal laws that deal with issues important to most women. This handbook is not meant to be used in the place of a qualified attorney. If you feel that your rights have been violated, you should seek qualified legal assistance. For information on how to find an attorney, see the "Directory of Services" at the back of this book. The handbook is divided into eight chapters which discuss the legal rights of the women of California - - employment, economic independence, education, housing, health care, domestic relations, childcare and violent crime, and a directory of services. Each chapter discusses your rights with respect to the designated topic, and provides information on where you can seek help if you feel that your rights have been violated. The directory is an extended resource section that provides information on a wide range of resources available to women in California. The directory is not a complete list of every women's organization in California. However, many of the organizations listed can help by referring you to an organization that will address your specific question or problem.

It covers adjudication, rulemaking, judicial review of each type of action, and enforcement of agency orders and rules. It also discusses the Attorney General's role as the State's legal representative. The last section, captioned "Open Government," contains brief discussions of the Public Information and Open Meetings laws. The text of the Administrative Procedure Act is provided as an appendix to the handbook. This handbook is merely a guide; it cannot take the place of legal counsel. When in doubt about an aspect of a specific case, Attorney General ruling, or statutory requirement, an agency should consult its attorney. Statutory changes made by the 77 th Legislature are noted in the footnotes with asterisks (*).
