Boys with Tight Foreskins
Child care skills are normally passed down through the generations. Sometimes this passing down of knowledge can get interrupted. With a culture in which most males were circumcised for many years, the knowledge of how to care for a foreskin has largely disappeared in the US. There isn't really so much to know, but there are a few basics. One them has to do with the normal stretching characteristics of our skin. At birth the foreskin is only open enough to pass urine. It only opens more if it's stretched, and it only gets stretched when it's pushed back. No foreskin ever opens by itself; it gets gradually stretched open over an extended period of time by being pushed back over the penis.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine variation in aspects of contemporary Korean fathering, such as warmth and involvement (frequency and task share), and its relationship to children's sex role development. One hundred and twenty-nine Korean families (fathers, mothers, and their 11- to 13-year-old children) completed standardized questionnaires addressing childrearing practices, parental involvement, spousal support, and sex role orientations. Statistical analyses of the data revealed that warmth of fathering and father involvement (frequency and task share) were not significantly associated with children's sex role orientations. However, girls' femininity was significantly related to fathers' masculinity.

Parenting is challenging, especially for men living apart from their children. If you take a few moments to reflect on the questions below, you might find something meaningful to carry back into your life or to pass on to others. Perhaps this could be the start of a story you'd write or tell that could show men how to live happy lives as fathers. Be the best father that you can be! REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS What is it like to be a father who lives apart from his child(ren)? . How much time do you spend with your child(ren)? What do you usually do together? Is there more you would like to do? . How close do you feel to your son(s) or daughter(s)? Do you know how close they feel to you? . Do you believe that you can make a difference in your child's life? In what ways?

Is Australia Leading Fathers' Rights Advance?

DadsOnTheAir.com is about to bring an amazing story to the internet in the form of a book on recent political developments in Australia.
Fathers Rights? In defense of family and other fundamental rights.

In "Hounding Baskerville," (National Review) Tom Sylvester (American Values Institute) demonstrates the deepest divisions between activist social conservatism and core American political values. Activist social conservatives ignore boundaries between private and public issues as easily as they ignore the boundary between state and federal power. Like their far left counterparts, they abandon individual rights when embracing social causes. Nowhere are the divisions sharper or more critical than on issues that involve the basic social unit; family.

Fathers' roles
What our society has expected from fathers has changed over the course of history. There continue to be new expectations for fathers. In addition, fathers decide how they will carry out their fathering roles. Fathers may look to their own fathers as role models or they may look to other models for examples of positive parenting. These influences can leave fathers wondering, "What are the expectations of me as a father?" and "How can I meet these expectations?"

    Publishers summary:
Fathering from the Fast Lane was published in August 2001. It became a national bestseller within two months and has featured on numerous TV and radio presentations as well as newspaper and magazine articles. The Author : Dr Bruce Robinson, Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia Medical School, has been speaking on the topic of work and family life to students and professional and community groups for over twelve years. He is all too familiar with the challenges of working 'in the fast lane': as a father of three, he has had to balance his family life with the pressures of being a practising lung specialist, leading a large cancer research team, teaching medical students and attending international conferences. http://www.dadscan.ca/
    NEW 2004-2005
Many men today feel set adrift from the notion of themselves as "father." Times have changed, and the old, familiar, traditional models of parenting no longer work. Society has not yet evolved a strong and workable new model of parenting, or, in particular, of fathering. Dr. Neil Campbell believes the answer to the question "what is an involved father?" can be found within the experiences and stories of our own lives. In this book he takes us into his life, first as a son, then as a father, sharing some of the profound insights he learned along the way. Neil Campbell, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized advocate of responsible, involved fathering. he is the founder and executive director of Dads Can, and the creator of Dad Classes, a model now spreading across Canada. He is the proud father of two wonderful daughters and an assistant professor at the University of Western Ontario. Self-Help/Parenting

If you consider how much time we spend learning about our jobs, sports, and hobbies, it's hard to believe how little we prepare for becoming a parent. In prenatal classes my wife and I attended for our first child, now a teenager, the teacher earmarked 20 minutes to talk about the father's role. I knew I wanted to know more about my feelings and the changes I was undergoing, but I had little opportunity to find out how the other expectant dads in the group were feeling. With nowhere else to turn for male support, I started my own group for new and expectant dads. I drew from my experience as a father, a family therapist, and a participant in a men's group. Now I teach Becoming a Father classes to dozens of men each year at two San Francisco Bay Area hospitals.

    http://www.allprodad.com/6infants.asp
FATHERING INFANTS Over the past two decades, many studies have documented the benefit of father involvement during the early years of childhood. Frank Pedersen found that infants with involved fathers demonstrate richer social behavior and are more exploratory when compared to infants without fatherly interaction.
Specifically, infants with involved fathers smile more frequently and spend more time manipulating objects as part of their heightened exploratory experience.
Another study confirmed that by six weeks of age, infants can distinguish their father's voice from their mother's voice. And a classic study from Boston Children's Hospital found that infants anticipate different interaction from their fathers than their mothers. Using a split-screen video, researcher Michael Yogman demonstrated that, when infants were approached by their mothers, their heart and respiratory rates slowed, they relaxed their shoulders and even lowered their eyelids. When dads approached, the babies' responses were significantly different: their respiratory rate and pulse quickened, they hunched their shoulders and their eyes widened and brightened. All of these studies illustrate the powerful effects of hands-on, involved fatherhood.
