What is Pre-Law?
Pre-law at the University of Louisville is designed to help undergraduates prepare themselves for law school. There is no pre-law major nor do law schools encourage such a major. However, the University of Louisville has pre-law advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences who help students choose electives (within established majors) that will develop their verbal and analytical skills, the two skills most relevant to the study of law.
What Careers Are Available in Law?
Admission to law school is very competitive. Students considering a legal career are encouraged to take a broad range of challenging undergraduate courses and read about legal careers, e.g., Susan Bell (ed.), Full Disclosure: Do You Really Want To Be A Lawyer. (Peterson's Guide Books). Individual counseling with pre-law advisors is available to assist students.
Pre-Law at the University of Louisville
Students interested in pre-law at UofL are encouraged to take a broad range of preparatory undergraduate courses. Individual counseling is available to assist students in deciding if they have the desire, motivation and academic potential that is needed to successfully complete law school.
