Artists Report Good Sales at Crafts Park Avenue Show Despite Low Attendance The show highlighted
the value of good customer
by Heather Skelly Although several of the artists we spoke to reported that attendance seemed down, many said that sales were the same or better than in years past. For fiber artists and jewelry makers in particular, this show appears to garner the most sales.
Untitled porcelain work by Lois Ruben Aronow, a first-time exhibitor at the Fall Crafts Park Avenue show.
Brito, whose work retails for $50 to $2,000, has also shown at American Craft Council shows, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Show and the Smithsonian Craft Show. Giberson, whose retail price range is $5 to $1,800, has also exhibited in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, CraftBoston and the Smithsonian Craft Show. Her work is also sold on Guild.com. Glass by Barbara Galazzo. Gilded panel by Laurie Goddard. To that end, Massachusetts fiber artist Sonya Mackintosh, sold each of her handmade scarves folded in a cotton bag stamped with her contact information and cinched with a ribbon. And Brooklyn fiber artist Cozbi Cabrera, who makes keepsake dolls, pillows and bibs, carefully wrapped each purchase in tissue paper then tied it with satin ribbon and sealed it with a sticker of her logo. While the process was simple, the effect was impressive and professional.
Heather Skelly is associate editor of The Crafts Report.

Security
Not all online shopping is secure and it is important consumers investigate the service or website before making a purchase. Other issues of concern can include privacy, fluctuating exchange rates for foreign currencies, local and international laws and delivery methods. In order to avoid cheating, a company should be set up to be in charge of the shipping and payment; that is, the buyer pays company the money while the seller deposits the product with the company; the company can give the money to the seller and ship the product to the buyer only when the company has received both the product and the money. This way, the buyers and sellers can feel more secure when shopping online. Payment
Online shoppers commonly use their credit card for making payments, however some systems enable users to create accounts and pay by alternative means. An example of this is PayPal, a system that makes online purchasing much more convenient. A user of PayPal simply has to enter their password and verify their order instead of entering their credit card information repeatedly. Once a payment has been accepted the goods or services can either be downloaded from the internet or delivered to the consumer via traditional means. Online Shopping Online shopping is the process consumers go through to purchase products or services over the internet. Popular websites that allow online purchasing include Amazon, eBay, and Buy.com. Online shopping is popular mainly because of its speed and ease of use.

AppleUmpkin Bake-Off The AppleUmpkin Festival had its humble beginnings in 1986, the brainchild of one of our most creative residents, Mrs. Willa Bishop. Her objective was to bring the residents of the Town of Middlebury together to celebrate the harvest. Since apple orchards and pumpkin patches abound, Mrs. Bishop came up with the name "AppleUmpkin!" Early festivals were small and engaging, anticipated and attended by residents of the Town of Middlebury, the Village of Wyoming and the Dale Valley. Houses were decorated in honor of a plentiful harvest, music and dancing filled the otherwise quiet streets, and people of all ages came together for a grand celebration of the harvest!
We invite you to revel in the final golden days of summer along gaslit streets lined with hundreds of craft vendors, strolling entertainers and the mouth-watering aromas of delectable festival treats!

Next SOUTH ASIAN HISTORY History of the Mughals in the Indian Subcontinent The Rise and Fall of the Mughals A Revaluation of their Role in Indian History No period in Indian history has drawn as much attention and scholarly research as has the period in Indian history that corresponds with Mughal rule. Western and many Indian historians alike have focused on the reign of the Mughals almost to the point of total neglect and exclusion of other periods in Indian history. In-depth investigation of other ruling dynasties whether subordinate to the Mughals (such as the lesser-known Rajputs or Bundelkhandis) or preceding them (such as the Parmars, Kakathiyas, or Sharqis) or their southern contemporaries (such as Tamil Nadu's Pandyas) has rarely attracted the scholarly attention of influential historians, and often their role in Indian history has been seen as peripheral to that of the Mughals, or their contribution to Indian civilization seen as tangential and marginal. Journalists, art critics and popular historians have been particularly infected by such biases, and even highly respected art critics and social scientists have written quite dismissively of India's regional kingdoms that preceded Mughal rule or rose in the wake of it's precipitous decline.

76. Fall Festival
About this annual event that showcases the area's fall foliage and celebrates the county's cultural heritage by demonstrating and displaying various traditional crafts and skills.
http://www.loc.gov/bicentennial/propage/TN/tn-1_h_jenkins3.html
Hancock County Fall Festival Celebrating its 24th year in 2000, this festival had its roots in the outdoor drama, Walk Toward the Sunset , which attempted to document the history of the Melugeons, a small distinctive group of people living in Hancock County whose origins have always been a mystery. Recently DNA/genetics research has tied the Melungeon population to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern peoples: Portuguese, Turks, and Jews. When financial difficulties forced the closing of the drama, the directors wanted to continue a means to attract tourists to the area and broaden its economic base. In 1977, the Board of Directors of the Hancock Drama Association met to make plans for the first festival, which was held October 14-16 of that year. The festival is still held annually at the Farmer's Market in Sneedville on the first weekend of October. Walk Toward the Sunset , the festival is produced entirely by local volunteers.
